Papoose - Alphabetical Slaughter

What can I say... wow. Awesome song. Papoose goes nuts and lyrically rips the alphabet apart. I need more songs like this.

Lyrics:

[Intro: DJ KaySlay]
Aiyyo it's DJ KaySlay the Drama King
And for those of y'all that don't know
I'm workin with a new artist, he goes by the name of Papoose
And for those of y'all that didn't finish school
Check this out, it's all good
I'ma run y'all through this little Thug-acation right now
And what we gon' do, is we gon' scream out the letters in the alphabet
And every letter you hear screamed out, from A to Z
My man Papoose gon' break it down for you
So what you do, is get your pens, your pads, and take notes
Yo Papoose, let's go!

Papoose is wack. He is a one-dimensional ABC-rapper (not because of that alphabetical song, lol). His shit is repetative as fuck and lacks substance.

Anyways, if you think this song is good then go and find "The Letter P" by Saigon & Kool G Rap. It's similar to "Alphabetical Slaughter" but only with the letter "P" and it's way tighter due to the fact that Saigon is a better MC than Pap, plus it's got Kool G Rap on it and that dude's a legend.

EDIT: Found it on youtube. You better check this out:

That was my second time being exposed to Papoose, so I don't really know him that much. I thought he was aite in that Tupac song "Dumpin'".

But yeah, Letter P was pretty dope. I've been listening to too Southern style rap songs, so to actually listen to lyrically diverse songs is definitely music to my ears at this point.

WTF! Colin is alive?

Yeah, if that's your first Pap experience you probably think he's pretty dope. But dude's style gets repetitive real fucking fast. On top of that he played himself out by flooding the market. He's got something like 18 official mixtapes over the last 3-4 years and no album. Now a lot of people don't give a fuck about him. Then of course, that song you posted is something like 8 years old and he really hasn't done anything better since then. Saigon does everything Pap does, but better.

If "Alphabet Aerobics" impressed you then there's a couple Blackalicious tracks that Gift of Gab goes off on. One being "Chemical Calisthenics" and one having the same go-though-the-alphabet thing, but it's name escapes me right now...

In terms of rappers just going off.

Lost Boyz ft. A+, Redman, Canibus - "Beasts From The East:
Canibus has the last verse on this and it's unreal. 50 bars of lyrical insanity.

Joe Budden - "Dumb Out"
8 minutes, no hook, just spitting fire.

Sean Price - "P-Body"
The line "kneel down, kiss the ring/R Kelly ya verse when I piss on ya 16" tells you the kind of shit you're going to get here.

Lupe Fiasco - "Dumb It Down"
Straight lyrical stuff here. It doesn't have some kind of hidden meaning and message, but it's still dope. It's reminiscent of something like Nas's "It Ain't Hard to Tell" in that sense.

This was the first time I had really heard Papoose, and I liked it but I tried listening to some more, and this is exactly what I was about to say.

I can't believe I got beat to the punch on the Saigon comparison.

You make me hesitant on listening to more Papoose stuff  Funny thing though, the only reason I decided to search up Papoose was after reading this article on the most anticipated upcoming albums... forgot where the article was from.

Thanks for the recommendations, although the only track I was really feeling was "Beasts From The East" , and damn right, especially Canibus's verse. Currently getting his discography.
