Postby Malfa on Tue Sep 25, 2007 12:47 pm

Has anyone that has gotten a speeding ticket gone to court instead of paying it beforehand?

If anyone has can you please tell me what it's like??
I have it at 10 AM tomorrow morning..

I went to court not for a ticket but for another traffic violation. They put me in a courtroom for 30 min with a bunch of other people and then called us all up to the front , then I told the woman I didn't want to stay in court and I wanted to pay the fee and I paid it at the cashier and left , and that was that.

Unless you're positive you did nothing wrong pay the fee and leave. :D

I could have paid it like a month ago. I want to try and go to traffic school or whatever so it doesn't go on my record. That is why I'm going to my court date...

How long does it take? Should I get there at 9??

I think you can still pay it and then go to traffic school(you have a limited time to go, so go immediately) to keep the point from being taken off your license, but I'm in California, so it could be different.

it is different in cali. but you should be able to pay it without showing up if it isn't too severe.

Usually in SC is you show up to court they end up reducing the fine and the points off your license...the cops never show to argue so...

well..i got there
and then i was outside the door in a line to talk to one of the people..to check in you know

and then she asked what i was pleading..and i said no contest and i wanted to try and get in to traffic school so it doesnt go on my record

she asked me 3 questions to see if i qualified for youth traffic school
and i did

so i paid 75 filing charge and 20 dollars for traffic school

and then i take the 3 hour class and then dont get a citation or ticket for 6 months and its off my record

=)
way easy..i was there for 10 minutes..
