How many basketball trophies do you have?

Postby J@3 on Fri Sep 21, 2007 5:02 am

I was curious as to what other people have accumulated. I have 19 all up, 2 are from grand final winning rep teams, 1 is runner up, 4 are individual awards from England, 1 is an individual award from Australia and the rest are a bunch of domestic league/rep team participation trophies that you get given at the end of every season.

I got this one trophy that doesn't really look like a trophee. It's shaped like a big tire.

That's their way of saying hey, thanks for being the token fat guy on our team keeping the seats warm.

So I think that puts the tally at...1?

I don't know the exact number, but for basketball its probably between 7-10. Their is a couple MVPs, a most improved, a sixth man, and a most inspirational plus a few others. Most of my athletic awards came in track and field though. I have dozens of those.

now if this thread doesn't help stroke the ole ego, I don't know what will. :)

I have only two trophies: MVP and Most Improved Player :(

And about a dozen basketball medals.

I've got the "best high fives given to teammates while contributing nothing else" award. I know, I'm in a class all of my own.

don't worry Jackal, I'm a bit of a Pero Cameron myself

as for trophies in bball, I have never received one, not even a participation one....the fact is that every team that I've played on since I was 14 has never had trophies....a lot of those were high school teams, so that explains that....they didn't give MVP trophies or anything like that....

although that may change soon....might work some trophies into the Fighting Irish rotation....I hate participation trophies....it's like "although you suck, we appreciated you filling in the numbers, here's a trophy"....we probably won't do MVP trophies, otherwise I'd already have 2 (& probably a 3rd on the way since lately Will's offensive game has gone the way of a 3rd string PG sorry Will)....I'm thinking "Spirit of the Irish Award", a Most Improved Award & maybe a Player's Choice Award....maybe we'll do some game-by-game voting system (3 for top player, 2 for 2nd best, 1 for 3rd)....

anyway, enough ramble bumbling, I never have got a trophy for bball, but it doesn't bother me....although I'd still like to get one

Ouch haha..

Ive got about 10 from winning comps and stuff like that.. Ive got 2 or 3 individual awards too.. They dont give out MVP here, except for MVP of the grand final, which i have 2 of.

Because you were in the opposing team's huddle, you also tapped their butts.

I have a lot. 1 MVP, 1 MIP, 7 for local champs, 1 (medal) for reps champs and 1 for being champs at a tournament in Canberra. Going again to Canberra on October 12.

I have over 30. We used to get participation trophies for the league I played at in the YMCA every fall and spring, so those really add up.

I also have 4 National Championship trophies from my AYBT and AAU teams.

The only indivudual ones are one for shootout champion at Tim Hardaway camp, and one for MVP of a tournament in Des Moines Iowa with my AYBT team.

We float between 8 & 9....I'll have to check the cost of trophies to see if the team can afford them....it was only an idea....maybe just have the Spirit & MIP trophies....they're more important to our team than MVP ones I'd say....

I have like 8 PAL league trophies, a couple from hewybl (local kids league), a Most Improved plaque I got from the NJAC while I was at kean, and My favorite was the Mr. Hustle trophy I got from the Adidas ABCD camp.

I have a trophy from Eastern Invitational as well, but I let my little cousin have it cause he liked it so much.

I got a few to say the least.

Mostly from tournaments across the country .

I am finished with organized basketball now though, since I got to many injuries from it. I'm now starting to play organized volleyball which is another cool sport in my opinion and way underrated too .
