Florida Vacation

Postby dan_suth on Fri Jul 06, 2007 8:11 am

So I'm looking into booking a trip to Florida for my girlfriend's birthday in the end of October, and I'm not too sure where to go. For those of you that live in Florida, or those that have taken trips there, what is the best vacation spot in the state? As of right now I'm looking at Daytona Beach as the most likely spot, but Fort Myers doesn't sound too shabby either. Are they both relatively similar (in terms of ocean access, things to do, etc.)? I really don't know much about Florida as I've only been there once, and that was to Disneyworld back when I was like 12. Any suggestions?

You can never go wrong with Miami. The weather is annyoing most of the time, but there are some beautiful days, and then it is almost the perfect city. Great bars and restaraunts, and if it isn't raining, some of the best beaches in the world. That's if you are looking for a more relaxing type vacation.

If you want a more adventerous type nature vacation, then the Everglades are great.

Stay away from Orlando...specifically the Disney parks. They're not meant for anyone over 10.

It depends on your interests. Since you are celebrating your girlfriend's birthday I would say go to Miami. But if you're not willing to stay in one city and if you want to experience different activities Fort Myers is good too. You can go to Tampa, Sarasota, Everglades, Orlando or even to Miami. The journey time from Fort Myers to Miami is about 3.5 hours and from FM to Tampa about 2 hours (information are approximate!).

My favorite place is the Tampa Bay Area - great beaches, several leisure time activities, beautiful landscapes, ...
