Upgrading RAM

Postby JaoSming on Mon Jan 01, 2007 3:24 am

Aight I need some help upgrading my RAM

AMD 64 3000+ 1.81GHz
ATI x800GT 256mb
This Motherboard
and Kingston 184pin 512MB PC3200 HYPERX RAM

My motherboard has 3 available (4 total) slots for additional RAM and I'd like to keep the stick I already have.

I was thinking of buying another stick of what I already have then in the near future buying either 2 more sticks of 512 (2gigs of 4x512mb) or buying a gig stick (2gigs of 2x512 + 1 gig).

So what do you guys think I should do? I want to eventually get to 2 gigs
Opinions are my own.

By three more sticks of PC3200 512mb RAM to give you 2 gigs.

You don't want to have different types of RAM in the same slot.

I've heard lots of things about nForce 4 motherboards screwing up with four sticks of RAM, so I stuck with two sticks of 1 GB, namely these (they used to be cheaper  ).

You can go either way because the size of the ram does not change the type. So go with whatever will get you the most for cheaper.
