Printing Black

Postby koberulz on Thu Nov 02, 2006 7:29 pm

for some reason, i can't seem to print black.

it prints fine on normal paper. however, when i put in glossy paper and set the printer up to cater for glossy paper, the black becomes a dark navy blue. dark enough to pass off as black in the right light, but as soon as you get a decent look, it's obviously blue.

it's really screwing up my dvd covers. is there any way i can fix this?

Have you tried the FAQ for your printer or trying to contact the company that makes your printer?

You could be low on black ink and the printer is compensating by making a composite black. Try using a plain B/W cartridge, because theres no way it can come out blue that way.

there's no way the black ink is low, it's a brand new cartridge.

We could create a whole new computer FAQ webage, and rename it FKQ - Frequent koberulz questions - and it would solve every single computer problem known to man kind.

I'm assuming since you're making DVD covers, that the printer is set to print on high, or maximum settings. With these set, a printer will sometimes use color instead of black to make it appear nicer, depending on whether or not you're using a color image. If, the image is all black and white, just make sure you set you printer to print on maximum settings but only using the black ink cartridge. Also, if it is multi-colored, try printing the color first, then set the page back in and print a black and white of the black parts of the image.
