GTA San Andreas Problem - "Original Disc Can Not Be Fou

First of all, i know this is the General Talk section, but i figured i'd post this here because its not actually talking about playing the game.

Ok, so yesterday i purchased GTA San Andreas for PC, installed it, played it all last night, alls going well. Then i wake up to play it this morning, and i get a message saying: "Original Disc could not be found or Authenticated". I have no patches, or cracks or anything installed with this game, the original DVD is the one im using, but it still wont recognise it. I uninstalled it, and re-installed the game which went smoothly, but when i actually went to play the game, it gave me the same error.

Any idea's?

yup, it happens when the DVD drive you use isn't the drive letter D:

Ok, not sure if your being serious or not, but it worked fine yesterday, and the drive is D:

Keep trying to play the game, keep clicking the icon till it works, i had a similar problem just kept trying and it eventually worked.

When you uninstalled the game, did you remove all files associated with the game? Quite often when games are uninstalled, saved games and settings/other data files are left behind. Perhaps one of those files has become corrupted and since it's still there when you reinstall the game, the problem would continue to occur.

well the D drive thing was what happened to me when i first got it, I have two CD drives, and the DVD one is E, so i had to change that for GTA SA to work.

Post a pic with you and the original dvd and someone might pm you with some help if you catch my drift.

Andrew, i think it got rid of all the files in program files, but not the GTA San Andreas User Files.. ill give that a try later tonight..

One of the issues I faced was when I tried installing GTASA into a different partition rather than the C:\Program Files etc part, I couldn't run GTASA if it wasn't installed in the default folder but I could move it to a different location and play it afterwards, it's got bugs here and there but I'd try and not change the directory(if you have) and also as Andrew said get rid of any old save files which are usually located in your My Documents folder.
