NLSC RPG - The Game - [ House 2 + First day! ]

Postby Tuomas on Wed Jun 07, 2006 9:06 am

Welcome to NLSC RPG, a different type of dynasty. This dynasty tells the story of NBA players' lives on and off the court. Each featured player is a member of the NLSC. Every participant will recieve points for achivements on and off the hardwood. Points can be used to buy different things. Each character has both Sims skills and NBA skills. Sims skills are used in the Sims and they also boost NBA skills, which are basketball playing abilities.

The NBA simulation part will be performed with NBA Live 2001, rest is played with The Sims 1.

How the dynasty plays
Every character has NBA Live skills and Sims skills. Each player will post what they want their character to try to achieve before each update. Characters recieve points after different achievements and players can buy different things with their points; ratings, stuff into their room etc.

The room
Each character has it's own room, which is empty at the beginning, and it looks like in the below image (with own colors). During the game you can buy TVs, fridges etc.
Image

NBA team
All the characters, depending on the number of them, form a NBA team(s). The team plays against other NBA teams and player and team performances earn points to the characters.

How sims skills affect NBA skills
Althought they aren't completely correlative, they do have a connection: Sims skills boost NBA skills. Any Sims skill will boost the NBA skills the following way:
Cooking : +2 endurance
Mechanical : +1 Offensive awarness, +1 defensive awarness
Charisma : +2 Clutch
Body : +2 Strenght, +2 jumping
Logic : +1 Offensive awarness, +1 defensive awarness
Creativity : +2 passing, +2 dribbling

If you for example have 7 charisma points, your clutch rating will be raised with 14 points.

How to increase your ratings
You can increase your Sims ratings with two ways, either training them like you would in the game, or buying them. NBA ratings can only be bought.

How Sims days are played
The Sims will most of the time use their free will to do things. I will only suggest them to do something if a) a player wants his character to do something during the day or b) he needs to go to sleep etc. I will not force relationships, they suck anyways in the game.

Now it's time to post your orders for your character before first update = what will you want your character to do during the first day?

I want my character to find a job to get some more green and try to get some muscle at the gym, maybe shoot a little hoops to gain more skills.

My purchases with the 1000p
Objects: Level 1 couch, Color TV = 450p
NBA Skills: Jumping : 3, Field goals : 8 = 550

Remember that you all have 1000 points to start with.

Cable Guy, I'll add the rest of the characters first before introducing house 2. I'll probably do the first update before that, a small one so house 1 doesn't get too far ahead.

The Black Death, fixed, with 80 base rating and +3 body points you get a 86 block rating (Y) edit. oh body points don't affect blocking, it's solid 80 then.

BTW, if you happen to have a favourite skin (clothes & head) on your pc, you can send them to me so I can use them in this. Alternatively you can also download or make one and send them to me as well, if you aren't satisfied with your current appearance.

This looks like a very cool concept! Interesting to see how this progresses. Will there be a background story line? Like some kind of contraversy, maybe 2 house membes get traded for each other, then a comparison to how they go in each others place.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

Today I will choose the inhabitats of house 2, and do the first update. I will also try to get the NBA thing going but it probably is something I will include in update 2.

Now for the NBA part, I might still switch to another NBA Live from 2001, just to get better results.

Does anyone remember, if any of Lives (2000, 2001, 2003, 2004) allow you to see boxscores of simulated games? That would be much easier. 2001 doesn't have it so I could as well use a newer game.

I thought of taking NBA Live 2004, which has deeper player creation and a actual dynasty mode and better ratings to suit this type of thing. All I need is a roster patch for this season, if there isn't , I could replace the Bobcats' generic players with our characters.

Now as for the first update, I see none of the participants made any wishes on what they would like their character to do on the first day. It's ok though, they'll be wondering around more freely if you don't want me to force anything. I like to play like that anyways.

Opinions? On which Live to use etc.

edit. Cooking skills add points to endurance.

Day 1

Info: The Sims will most of the time use their free will to do things. I will only suggest them to do something if a) a player wants his character to do something during the day or b) he needs to go to sleep etc. I will not force relationships, they suck anyways in the game.

Note : The first day didn't yet include any NBA action, I'll add the new ratings from this day and your possible purchases to the roster I've created, the next day will have the first NBA game.

Introduction: A NBA team was struggling during the 04-05 season. It did not make results as expected and the management desided to do a huge shake up. They released, traded, sold and put their players into D-Leagues, just to fill the roster with newly scouted talent from around the world. The new players moved into two luxury houses in a neighborhood many celebrities live in.

House 1
Inhabitats of the first house were amazed by the house, it was big and had lot of cool things in it. The swimming pool gathered a lot of attention, as well as the game room. Everyone took advantage of the catering services as well. Dahl and Drex enjoyed the hot tub and had a long conversation but seemed to disagree with a lot of things, so they aren't exactly best friends now.
ImageImage
The swimming pool was crowded - Dahl and Drex did not see things the same way.

The Black Death and Donatello seemed to come along well and had a lot of things to talk about. Fenix on the other hand tried to get to know the neighbours, especially the old lady next door
ImageImage
Donatello using his cooking skills - Fenix seems to be pretty open with the old lady

Dahl didn't seem to have a good day, he broke the sink. Pera and cwebbiverson did a lot of swimming, Pera also tried to get in touch with his artistic side by painting. The day ended weirdly, the whole house woke up at 11:30 pm to get some buffet!
Image

House 2
The main focus for today seemed to get to know the house. Jing opened the day by winning some money from the slot machines, while Nick and Cable Guy shared some nostalgic moments with an old video game. Unrestric3D, Hammertime23 and Mofo took advantage of the sunny day by swimming all day.
ImageImage
Jing plays the slots, Nick and Cable Guy playing the video game - Unrestrict3D doesn't seem to know how to use the slide...

Some of the neighbours visited, including Donatello, and the Goths. BHZMAFIA and Mortimer Goth had some discussion in the hot tub, where Mafia spends a lot of time in.
ImageImage
No manners what so ever - Jing shooting pool with Mortimer Goth

Also Jing broke a sink today, but Mafia got sick of the mess and cleaned it without forcing. The whole house seemed to be quiet after everyone got to sleep, but Nick sneaked into the dining room to fix some drinks! Not letting the underaged see your real habits, eh?

_____________________________

As you may have noticed, I have given 1000 points to begin with for every house 2 player. Now that I have created the houses and the characters, it will get easier on me. The next day will include a normal Sims day and a NBA game, I will reveal what team consists of the characters., but first I'll update the ratings from Day 1 and possible purchases.

Feel free to give opinions and suggestions.
