More Phone Type News : Teen Accused of Making 1,000 911 Call

Postby BOSS on Wed Apr 12, 2006 3:11 pm

BUFFALO, N.Y.— A teenage girl acknowledged making about 1,000 fake 911 calls from her cell phone, laughing, taunting and saying, "You can"t catch me," police said Monday.

Police said some of the calls made this month lasted several minutes, and one lasted an hour.

The girl was charged over the weekend with two counts of misdemeanor falsely reporting an incident for allegedly making six fake 911 calls from a local church phone Saturday.

"She didn"t give us a reason for doing this," Chief of Detectives Dennis Richards said. "She was very disrespectful, and she said that she was going to keep calling 911."

The girl"s name was not released because she is a minor.

The case follows the arrest earlier this year of Juan Merced, who along with his wife and oldest son was accused of making nearly 1,000 fake 911 calls from his Buffalo home.

Police said this new case may be a copycat one.

She should be jailed in a room with a rapist and one telephone that's off-line. That should teach her a lesson.

It's much more fun to prank the operators. But that's soooo pre-teen.

Speaking of pre-teen, one time in grade 7 me and my friends were making various prank calls. I called the operator and after I asked her a few questions she said "You know I could cut out your phone service, I'm in just that kind of mood." Then in the most sultry voice a seventh-grader can muster I said "What kind of mood is that?" Of course she couldn't actually cut our service, so everything went well.

That reminds me. When that "Rescue: 911" show used to air in Australia in the early 90s, there'd be a disclaimer at the end reminding international viewers not to call 911 if there was an emergency and to make note of their country's emergency number. Needless to say, we went straight to the phone and dialed 911.

I remember when cell phones started to be a big thing, all the teens added every number imaginable. The number for finnish emergency unit is 112. So some idiots saved the number and named it 112, and because older nokia phones tend to have a life of it's own when kept in the pocket, most of them phoned 112 couple of times a week and even was on the news. The emergency unit told to not save the number as the first name on the contacts list.

^ That's the purpose of the keylock in cellphones.
For Nokia phones: Select MENU and press the * sign to activate it.

One time I was dialing random numbers and hanging up after a ring. I dunno, I was bored, and young. So I dialed (local prefix) 1234, and hung up. A second later, the phone rang. I picked it up. Turned out I had dialed the fire station. They were all worried (you know, like if the phone had melted or somethiing) and were like did you just call her, I'm like yeah but I hung up because I had dialed the wrong number. The lady gave me a lecture about how you shouldn't do that :S. I'm like, uh... I hung up while it's ringing. It was very weird.
