You can always patch Pro Evolution Soccer and make it even more authentic than FIFA. Pro Evolution Soccer is way better than FIFA in terms of game play. Plus, FIFA just copies Pro Evolution Soccer anyhow. All the things that FIFA has now, just look at the past Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven games, FIFA just copied em.
Remember the W bashing running system? After seeing that the pro evolution running system was way better, they just copied the PES one.
Remember the stupid shooting system that if you charged it up it would go into a super kick? After seeing PES's shooting/accuracy system, the folks at EA copied that too. The shooting bar works EXACTLY the same. The power for free kicks and stuff will correspond to PES.
What about having the ball seperate from the player? PES/WE had it ages ago, back in the age of PS1 not PS2!! This obvious concept that makes the game a million times more realistic wasn't incorporated into FIFA until way later...I believe friggin 2005.
There are other things like this but I can't think of them right now. So if you play a FIFA game, you're playing something that is at least TWO generations behind the current PES game.
After playing Winning Eleven 6/PES 1 I realized that clearly PES was the superior choice and never touched FIFA again. (Except to try it every now and then to see if EA Sports has learned...but no...they don't learn.)
When does the FIFA license expire? I'd like to see EA Sports try to sell FIFA games without its exclusive license as WE has done for ages. If the license became non-exclusive, then WE would sell a whole shitload more than FIFA.
