Karma??

Postby Jona on Wed Feb 16, 2005 4:36 am

I was at .org a few minutes ago and I noticed a little "karma" counter below the user's nick name...
What is that??? :?:

Do you mean the feature on their forum or the actual meaning?

The feature: http://forums.nbalive.org/viewtopic.php?t=9986

The meaning: It takes a long time to explain it but here is the short version(): It's used mostly in Hinduism and Buddhism. It is the belief that one organisms assembled actions in previous lives will carry and determine what sort of a life they will be given in the next one (reincarnation). So if you follow your duties in life and live by the rules that are set for you you will get good karma, and then you will be given a better life (closer to Moksha in hinduism and Nirvana in buddhism).

I meant the feature, but good explanation there. (Y)

I think you can change the user's karma every hour. If they did something that bothers people, you lower their karma. If they made a great or funny post, you give them karma. That's why Rip has like -65186454 karma.

I don't like it, it's kinda pointless... although I do enjoy giving 'a' negative karma all the time (Y)

It's not THAT shitty, IMO. That way we could make the user with bad karma change his attitude or something... :? It could work... :P
Or maybe we can just give bad karma to whoever annoys us, like Homor, Frank Castle, LankyMan, etc...

I think it's a good way to discourage spam.

Lol Rip and co. are still regular posters, along with LankyMan. Doesn't really discourage them all that much.
