A few of you had sent reminder emails to renew, so it is up. We had a surprisingly competitive year last year with 20 teams and the last team being in the playoff hunt for almost the whole season before some losers gave up and fucked everything up

I'm taking the chance at changing it back to "no protests" for trades and hoping nobody gives up this year
Also I'm cutting down the number of roster spots since there's 20 teams in the league and I don't want anyone needing to depend on Justin Holiday to play

If you did not play last year and want to, PM me and I will keep a secret waitlist in case 1 of the 20 teams do not renew or come back. Thanks.

Signed up for it, Mr. Commissioner. This year, yahoo gives us the option to automatically get bench players points if one or more of our starters are inactive. I don't know if this option is active by default though. Do you know anything about it ?

Haven't seen anything about that yet but I'll check it out. Sounds like something for daily lineups but I'll let you know

Oh, it's my bad. That was actually something I've read on a forum, some people were saying that this stuff will get official 100% . I've read the "What's new" section on yahoo basketball and it says we have the new "I.L. roster spot".I assumed from the start that this is the thing I've read on those forums. It is actually jost a free roster spot for inactive and injured players

I was doing yahoo mock draft last night and met Nick by accident. Outside of his awful drafting skill set, it was pretty cool to meet fellow NLSCer in random mock draft for a little chat.

Unrelated, but Q: I heard rumours of reducing the roster spots? I just wanted to say i hope that's not true! One of the things i enjoy about this league compared to other leagues is the depth of fishing for deep sleepers. Just my 2 cents

When I first started the league it was fine but it started getting ridiculous as we got up to 16 and eventually 20 teams last year so I removed2 spots. You will still be required to have a deep team but last year it turned into basically picking up anybody that got minutes. I have a feeling the change will be for the better given the number of teams involved

I'd rather remove the teams than the roster spots. I enjoyed the stashing element, personally.

Besides, we don't even have 14 teams this year, lol

Putting all my trust in some NY Knicks garbage-minutes player last year was kinda' fun though. But I think your decision is for the better. It's more competitive this way I guess.

On the other hand, if we don't get past 15 teams, I believe last's year format would be perfect.

As per our discussion, you will keep your 3rd place again this year while I complete 4p(H)eat.

Nice one! Always good to go up against the best fantasy hoopers. Winning will feel all that much more satisfying this year

If we end up settling on 14 or 16, can we expand the roster size back out to what it used to be? Deep sleepers are fun

We have to do something about this Roster anyway. Q, you aren't really going with this, right?

Roster Positions: PG, SG, G, G, SF, PF, F, F, C, BN, BN, BN

4 Guards - 4 Forwards - 1 Center - 3 bench = 12 players

Notice no-Util and 1 Center. This is very imbalanced. If we're to reduce, why not go standard:
--- (3 Guards)
1 PG
1 SG
1 G
---- (3 Forwards)
1 SF
1 PF
1 F
--- (2 Centers)
2 C
--- (2 Util)
2 U
--- (3 bench)
3 B

Total of 13. Difference from last year would be 1 less G and 1 less F.

What are the +/-'s of the suggested formats?

We are at 16 teams right now. Hopefully we can get a couple more teams to renew and fill in with people waiting to get in

This is true but it's also the why Yahoo is generous with positions. Even guys like Dirk, Love, Ibaka, Griffin, Favors, and even Ryan Anderson have center position eligibility. If you try mock draft, you will have no problem filling out 2 center positions with decent talent in standard 14 people league.

My 2 cents from last season's league:

In hindsight on the official league, we should have made adjustments on the number of roster spots available based on the number of teams in the league, imo.

Less 12 teams: 15 man roster (PG,SG,G,G,SF,PF,F,F,C,C,Ut,Ut,Bn,Bn,Bn)

12 or 14 teams: 12 man roster (remove one G,F, and Bn)

16 teams or more: 10 man roster (PG,SG,G,SF,PF,F,C,C,Ut,Bn)

Agree with Q's 1 C only idea.
Just change the other C into a Ut from the 16 teams:10 man roster suggestion.

Nick's player stashing suggestion also has its merit.
The extra C could be changed to a Bn instead of a Ut for a 10 man roster.

So it seems like some were interested in increasing the roster size back to last year, but I will compromise and add a 2nd center spot back for a 13 man roster.
After looking at the C-eligible players, Top 50 players aren't bad, and the top 75 centers are still serviceable players.

I am going to find out if formyhunny, dei, and homicide want back in and try to finalize everything this week. Thanks.
