Wizards to re-sign Gooden; Morris upset about trade

The Washington Wizards and Drew Gooden III have agreed to a one-year deal worth $3.3 million, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.

"Everybody knew how bad I wanted to play with my brother," Marcus Morris said. "Phoenix knew. For them to trade me without consent or telling or anything like that was kind of like a, I would say slap in the face, because of the contract I took from those guys and the money I took from them. That was kind of a slap in the face."

The Morris brothers have become a handful to coach and I read the Suns felt with there up and coming court case that they needed breaking up.

On one hand, Morris has to suck it up and be a professional about the situation. The reality of being an NBA player is that you might get traded and have very little say in the matter; I can't imagine anyone gets into the NBA without knowing that, even if they're not always consciously thinking about it.

At the same time, of course, it's a tough part of the gig that's easy for us to take for granted. Morris has an additional reason to feel upset about leaving the team that's traded him, especially if any assurances were made behind closed doors. We've been discussing how DeAndre Jordan didn't stick to his word, and how that was very unprofessional. How many times do teams make verbal promises to players, only to go back on them when a deal they feel they need to make presents itself?
