The Heat signed Amare Stoudemire to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.

I hope he won't be able to crack the regular rotation which will pretty much mean bad season for the Heat. Just can't envision Heat winning a playoffs series with him playing a significant role.

I don't know, he was fairly solid for the Mavericks in less than 20 minutes off the bench last season. He's probably capable of some decent minutes here and there, but not much more.

I just don't like the Heat's chance in a series when the teams like Bulls bring out Gibson or Mirotic while the Heat's first big off the bench is Haslem or Amare.
Might be able to compete but to think about the playoffs series, I don't think contender worthy teams can rely on Amare as a significant back up big. Heck, I will take Wizard's Humphries or Gooden over this wash.

The Heat probably aren't expecting to seriously contend this year. In any event, on a one year deal, he's a stopgap who can still contribute, but is definitely past his prime.

The Heat are definitely in win now mode, whether or not they realistically think they can win a championship, we'll never know. I'm not a huge fan of this signing. It fits with our mantra of signing washed up veterans instead of grooming younger players. Amare is such a poor defender, I'm cringing at the thought of watching him.

What youngster is Amare taking minutes from?
I wouldn't be thrilled if my team made this move either. Still better than a Nazr resign

I would too.
Mavs fans loved him in that short period as a 15-20 min role for minimum salary and so sshould the Heat

I will consider him low end depth. But if he's playing heavy minutes come the playoffs, means something's gone wrong for the Heat.

You're stating the obvious, champ

Sometimes obviousness is what people want to hear.
