Sources: George Karl pushing for Kings to trade DeMarcus Cousins

Despite Sacramento Kings management's public insistence that DeMarcus Cousins is unavailable in deals, coach George Karl's intense desire to trade the All-Star center has made it increasingly unlikely this coach-star partnership can peacefully co-exist next season, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Karl has been recruiting Kings vice president of basketball operations Vlade Divac and multiple players on the Kings' roster to unite with him in making the case to owner Vivek Ranadive that Cousins needs to be traded, league sources said.

For his part, Cousins posted a Tweet that most have deduced to mean "snake in the grass"...difficult to argue otherwise.

Obviously, there's not a lot of goodwill there, and for his part, Cousins has had his issues. At the same time though, he's one of the best centres in the league, in the traditional big man mould...that's increasingly becoming a rarity. Seems like Karl's screwing up, here.

What the actual fuck are the Kings even doing anymore? Fire Malone. Pete leaves. Divac is president?? Hire a coach who doesn't want your franchise player around. What the actual fuck are they doing?

Too many people wanting to assert their power and put their stamp on things, it seems.

I agree that maybe the Kings have gone as far as they can with Cousins, which hasn't being very far!

He has the world of talent but his attitude stinks and he doesn't make anyone around him better, I can see why the Kings are looking to trade now while his value is high.

Watch the knicks trade the 4th pick for him now...

Confusing to say the least. Karl wants him out; Ranadive/Divac keep saying he's not goinng anywhere.

Do they trade their franchise player or do they bite the bullet with Karl's contract? What a clusterfuck.

Been reading 2nd pick is in play for Cousins, not sure how I feel about it. Cousins is only 24 and Okafor could just turn out to be Al Jefferson so let's see how it goes.

Still not convinced he'll get traded, if I was an owner I would dump Karl.

God, I love the off season!

If they cut loose George Karl after getting rid of Mike Malone then I have lost all respect for the franchise.

I already don't like there owner for suggesting the team plays 4 on 5 on defence for that cherry picking basket.

The amount of fuck ups in the last couple years is eerily similar to the Maloofs' last years there. The NBA should have let this joke of a team move here to Anaheim

They should trade cousins to the nuggets for lawson to reunite these players with their coaches

Seems some of Karl's former players have made similar "snake in the grass" comments in years gone by. There's no way the Kings can get rid of either man without looking a little bad, but cutting their losses with Karl would appear to be the better move. Boogie's had his bone-headed moments, but again, he's a legit big man. With a long history of alienating players, should they really put their faith in Karl? Is it worth him earning that salary on the sidelines, if he's just throwing everything into greater dysfunction in the long run?

Vivek, please figure out how to manage NBA politics. He just doesn't know how to manage egos in his FO staff and also wants to force everybody to incorporate his ideas and gameplan. Trust Vlade and take a step back. If Karl really does want Boogie out, I'm pissed that they have to choose. DMC's on the way up, and Karl only has 3-4 years left in him. But Karl's proven how to win, Boogie hasn't proven a lot yet. Siding against Karl makes it the 3rd coach fired in a year, but keeping Cousins after 5 straight sub-30 win seasons (to be fair, they would have gotten it last year if not for his meningitis) also looks retarded. It's a lose-lose.

Also, where the hell is this coming from now? Either D'Allesandro (who was the source of a lot of the rumors that came out before) is still lashing out at the bad situation from Denver, or Fegan's stirring up shit again. It seemed like it was Cousins' camp that supposedly had the problem with hiring Karl to begin with. Fegan wants to pull another Dwight Howard and move his client to L.A.

You are not going to build a serious contender with DeMarcus Cousins. This guy's a nutjob and always gets silly little things get into his head. If he ever makes to the playoffs, every opponent how to beat his ass. Just T him up and you got your game won. I don't think he can play off the ball well either. Look how Isaiah Thomas has thrived as soon as he got out of that stinking city though they badly needed a PG.

The Lakers aren't trading their second pick for this nutcase. It'd be a grave mistake. Their rebuilding plan is going well especially with the Wolves highly likely to fuck up going for KAT over Okafor.

Let DMC rot in Sacramento for entire career. When his value comes down from max to mid-level exception, pick him up as a back up big. George Karl is absolutely right trying to get rid of this cancer.

i would drop them both personally. if the lakers offered me the second pick for him with filler i would take it. he may be suiting up for the kings but he sure as shit aint playing for them

Kings Interested in JaVale McGee

Maybe the Kings' front office is subtly trying to say they side with DeMarcus Cousins?

I admit that I want to see the trade happen, but mainly because I would want to see how Boogie would get along with Kobe (or more specifically, how he wouldn't). I guess I just don't see how Kobe and Boogie could co-exist.

Sources: Kings talking to Lakers about DeMarcus Cousins trade, fielding offers from other teams

Kings vice president of basketball operations Vlade Divac has pursued a possible deal that would include a bevvy of assets, including the Lakers' No. 2 pick in Thursday's NBA draft, rookies Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson and other draft assets, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Sacramento also would want to unload the remainder of forward Carl Landry's two years, $13.5 million contract, league sources said.

Whew, good thing the Lakers did not bite. Seems like a steep price to send the #2 pick, Randle and Clarkson for a player with a history of issues being disposed by his team. I think places like Memphis, Detroit, Dallas, Orlando and Charlotte have better pieces to offer in a trade for Cousins without gutting their teams.
