Draft Lottery

Fri May 15, 2015 11:26 am

Representatives from all the teams have been announced. I guess that was the worst part about the Bucks making the playoffs. It's going down next Tuesday

I guess the big story is the Lakers have a 84% chance of keeping their pick.

I'm assuming Towns is the consensus #1 because he actually has a low post game. Knicks could go with Okafor but maybe Mundiay since Phil loves his tall PGs. Philly needs a PG after trading MCW, so Russell is the obvious pick. Most places have Lakers taking Mundiay which I hope to god doesn't happen (or a Rondo signing) but there's hope that Okafor falls to them if they don't move up.

Unless the Knicks somehow gather their wits and choose Russell to circumvent another Langston Galloway sighting, I concur with you. I still think Stanley Johnson is the sleeper in the draft this year. Excellent athlete, good defense, and he hit 37% from 3 at Arizona. Most have him going at #9 to Charlotte.
Charlotte is going to run away with the steal of the year. I predict that Towns and Okafor will struggle, Mudiay will look.. Well, look at his turnover numbers in China- and Russell will be solid but not spectacular.

Are we talking whole career or their rookie year?

Having a good rookie year doesn't mean a player is going to have a good career.

Having a bad rookie year doesn't mean a player is going to have a bad career.

LA needs some of that Cleveland luck.

Re: Draft Lottery

Towns and Okafor are top two picks. Mudiay is likely third to go. He's too young and talented to pass by for players in next tier. 1-3 teams aren't going to pick by needs but depends who's available and talent assessment mostly.

This year's Jabari/Embiid/Wiggins are Towns/Okafor/Mudiay. There is not going to be a surprise pick like Bennett.

Russell belongs to next tier.

Definitely was talking about Rookie year.

Completely out of nowhere but where is LeBryan Nash now? He was a nice prospect couple seasons ago. I was hoping he'd live up to his greatest name ever.

I like LeBryan Nash Durant after he got a touchdown to win the world series.

EDIT: Speaking of LeBryan Nash..
Jake Fischer: Along with Corey Hawkins, Le'Bryan Nash and Colorado's Askia Booker also worked out for the Sixers on May 8, according to a source - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.9MjAED8R.dpuf

Hoping for Towns to come to LA

Me too, I hope Minny really likes Okafor like some twitterazzi guy said. Either way I'm a happy guy. Toss up between those two is not a bad thing at all.

Re: Draft Lottery

I think the T'Wolves will take Karl Towns. It's either Jahlil or Russell to Lakers.

Flip Saunders is so high on Okafor and may actually take him at 1 over Towns.

Sums it up. Knicks can't catch a break.

Fortune smiled on the Lakers though, that must've been a tense few seconds for all Lakers fans as they revealed the sixth and seventh picks.

yup, pair either with randle(!) and Kobe and Clarkson. Sign Jimmy butler. resign ed Davis. Win championship.

Re: Draft Lottery

Wed May 20, 2015 11:48 am

Thats why I'm hoping for Towns, defensively would be a better player to pair with Randle.

I'm secretly hoping the Bulls fuck up somewhere and Butler signs here but with the knowledge of the cap going up I think many of the RFA's will stay put at whatever cost (most players you'd want will get the max).

The only real guy I could see leaving is Aldridge to San Antonio.

Best birthday gift though!

Re: Draft Lottery

Lakerspiracy! I was hoping they'd land outside of top 5 though unlikely.

So the Lakers get either Towns or Okafor and the Knicks get either Mudiay or D'Angelo. These two teams win no matter what.

The Wolves now have two top picks for consecutive years. Wiggins + Okafor maybe. That will be interesting.

In the meantime, the Celtics will have to settle for first round exit and Marcus Smart. But they will get something for Dallas' draft pick this year from Rondo trade, which probably isn't much to be excited about. Heck, the Heat did a nicer job and landed 10th pick. Sauru, chew on that.

Re: Draft Lottery

Wed May 20, 2015 12:38 pm

Minny's got another #1 in Bennet too.

Re: Draft Lottery

Wed May 20, 2015 12:40 pm

I agree that this is some rigged BS. Timberwolves getting the number one after they traded for the past two years' number one picks? Please. Knicks are fortunate, now they don't have to sweep down in order to grab their SF of the future, Justice Winslow.
Interesting stuff fellas. Any predictions for picks yet?

Re: Draft Lottery

Wed May 20, 2015 3:16 pm

Jahlil Okafor should go Number 1 safely. It's been awhile there's been great hype on this kid. That hasn't changed much though Towns has risen up to be a challenger.

Lakers probably will have trouble picking between D'Angelo/Mudiay/Towns. I guess a lot will depend on how their work out goes but Towns probably will be too hard to pass up. He's going to the Lakers. Size is important after all, or at least that's what she said.

D'Angelo has recently stated that he's Stephen Curry and the best player in this year's draft. I think that's being cocky/arrogant but who knows, maybe he can back it up. But one thing I am sure is that I won't root for him now. That said, he's had a tremendous college season. Some say he's a better player than Mudiay mostly because of shooting touch. I'm not convinced. Athleticism and explosiveness should still have Mudiay ahead. And Mudiay is still young and shooting touch is something you can definitely learn unlike athleticism. I have them about the same in playmaking so I think the teams will pick Mudiay before D'Angelo.

1. Okafor
2. Towns
3. Mudiay
4. D'Angelo

10. Kristaps Porzingis (hoping so)

Ofc, this is my own prediction.
