Bruce Bowen and Marion will not make the HOF any time soon.

Both very good players but not hall of fame worthy

Yeah I know. He was good but I found it bit funny he's ranked between KD and Dwight even though they'll likely move up the ranking when it's all said and done.

For some reason, I look at Manu Ginobili's .2005 and think their formula needs some work. It's not that bad as most of the top players will probably get a nod, but for some reason I think he will end up in the hall of fame. Manu, Duncan, and Tony Parker have been the core of that Spurs dynasty and should make it to the hall.

I think it only counts NBA achievements, Manu probably gets a huge boost for his international play.

Makes me wonder if Manu was a legit first option on a winning team like the current Rockets. His numbers as a sixth man arguably was better than Harden's sixth man numbers with the Thunder.

Also I think that's the power of Tim Duncan widely regarded as the best PF ever. Many benefited just playing alongside him. David Robinson was a better player than Timmy in their first championship together but Timmy was what put the Spurs over the top.

Their second championship team I believe was the best Spurs championship team in last 5 titles run. Timmy was at his peak, David Robinson was still capable, then there was emerging Stephen Jackson, Parker. Then perfect role players and depth like Horry, Bowen, Manu, etc. Practically all of them were champions because lucked into having Timmy as a teammate.

To be fair, it wasn't until 3rd title run when Parker and Manu became a true core of the Spurs. They were great in 4th run too, but 5th one was more of Kawhi Leonard.

Duncan all this time remained largely relevant and I believe he was the only irreplaceable piece in all of their title runs.

2014 is probably the best team. Then 2007. Then 2005.

2003 team won every round by the skin of their teeth and luck. Random three point barrages from Stephen Jackson and Steve Kerr. Webber and Dirk's injuries derailed the two real contenders. They nearly blew it against a Nets team that couldn't score. Nearly blew it to the Suns in the first round when the Suns had like two plays.

The 2004 team would have been sneaky amazing like two years later, as is they were one of the greatest defensive teams of all time. Manu, Parker and Hedo weren't quite ready yet, and they needed another big, which they got in Nazr the next year.

The 2007 team was the first one that could play any style, so they ran with the Suns and crawled with the Cavs.

My picks:

Recently Retired & Not Yet Eligible

Shaquille O'Neal
Allen Iverson
Jason Kidd
Grant Hill (I think his early years and respectable career as a role player will earn him the nod)
Steve Nash
Dikembe Mutombo
Tracy McGrady
Yao Ming
Chauncey Billups (though I'm guessing he'll miss out on first ballot, even though he deserves better)

Active Players Who Are (Likely) Retiring In The Not Too Distant Future & HoF Bound

Tim Duncan
Kobe Bryant
Kevin Garnett
Paul Pierce
Ray Allen
Dirk Nowitzki
Vince Carter
Pau Gasol

Active Players Who Are HoF Bound Down The Road

LeBron James
Kevin Durant
Chris Paul
Carmelo Anthony
Tony Parker
Chris Bosh
Dwyane Wade
Stephen Curry
Blake Griffin (if the Clippers string together some more successful seasons, and he keeps putting up numbers, it seems feasible)
Anthony Davis
Russell Westbrook
Kevin Love
James Harden (seemingly, following his breakout)

Could Go Either Way (Or May At Least Have To Wait A Few Years) When The Time Comes

Shawn Marion
Amar'e Stoudemire
Rajon Rondo
Jermaine O'Neal
Manu Ginobili (but quite likely)
LaMarcus Aldridge
Michael Finley
Marc Gasol

A Little Too Early To Tell (At Least First Ballot)

John Wall
Damian Lillard
Kyrie Irving

Need Their Own Wing

Yinka Dare
Dwyane Schintzius
Chuck Nevitt
Dickie Simpkins (more 70 win seasons than 29 NBA teams!)

I don't think Dwight or tmac will make it. Everyone else above b-R's .9 standard will make it

I'd place T-Mac's chances ahead of Howard's, though if Howard remains a star in the league for the next five years or so, I definitely think he's got a decent shot.

So, Dikembe Mutombo is actually being inducted into the Hall of Fame. I'd forgotten that he was on the shortlist this year (and as such, obviously eligible).

You know it's kinda crazy to think the team led by 22 year old Leo, and bunch of past prime stars is the best Spurs team out of all. We know top player matters and yeah, the team led by 22 years old Leo and team led by prime Duncan + HOFs in prime, I think it's easy choice between these two no matter the record.

I think it's a-to-z depth that 2014 Spurs has as an advantage over previous champion Spurs but that's about it. Just looking at top 3-4 guys, I am not entirely sold if the 2014 Spurs team is the best Spurs team.

2014 Spurs team won the most games out of all 5 title Spurs teams but it was fortunately coupled in a season of greatest tank war. Factor that in with the fact that East was a dysfunctional mess, I think there were more than couple freebies in their win column.

The Spurs only played Eastern teams 30 times out of 82, only a couple of teams were really tanking (and even then, had wins that demonstrated that the players at least were still trying), and every NBA team is capable of beating another team on any given night (it's just not as likely for the basement teams). Ultimately, you play the opponents that present themselves, and it's on you to get the job done consistently.

Yao Ming probably will go in at some point in time. He popularized the sport and became a basketball icon worldwide. Those 2009 Ming-McGrady-Artest-Battier-Scola Rockets looked destined to crush the Lakers...Shame McGrady couldn't play. Was a good series nevertheless.

If being a season MVP is one of the requirements to be automatically elected as a first ballot entry, do you reckon Derrick Rose will be in no matter what happens to his career?
