If he's unwilling to make a commitment, do the Rockets risk losing out on both players and let Parsons go in the hopes that they can still get a deal done with Bosh, or do they match the offer so that they don't come away empty-handed?

I've read that prior to him signing offer sheet with Mavs, Rockets and Parsons were not able to reach an agreement. Maybe Rockets are not willing to sign him at that price tag. I think Bosh would take his time before signing with Houston or any team for that matter. So decision would eventually fall in the hands of Houston management.

And that's what Donnie Nelson/Mark Cuban is using to try and screw Houston's strategy. Now they'll have to lure Bosh or another good player within 72 hours. If they fail to do so, they could match the offer to Parsons and have no chance of landing another star given the remaining salary cap or let him go and risk not being able to sign a star caliber player at all. I just realized that's a very smart move on the Mavs part. they either get Parsons or leave them with the same cap room they have before the offer.

Houston is only a contingency plan to Bosh. He's stated that he wants to continue playing with LBJ and there is no deal in place at the moment between Bosh and Rockets. It seems the Mavericks(stupidly imo) pushed the Rockets into the corner as they could end up paying Parsons superstar money when Dirk gave up great money to lure the superstar.

Well, I agree. It's a hefty price tag. Rockets would handcuff themselves with a max contract for Parsons. Same with Bosh. He isn't worth 80+ mio over 4 years. If the Rockets sign either of them to a max contract, they'll end up with a bench like that one Miami assembled last season.

Parsons brings a lot to the table. I find him like the glue guy, much like Batum.

Batum is getting paid 11 mil. to be the third option.

15 is pricey, but I'd still rather go after Parsons than end up with nothing valuable, like Posh.

Chris Bosh. They couldn't move anything around, and could've invested that money in something better.

Bosh was a GREAT investment despite the flaws. Do you think the Heat should have signed Stoudemire, or Boozer instead?

Parsons is a slightly above average player with shaky defense. You want to pay him near max on his potential, fine. I will disagree.

Actually his defense is rather good. Not spectacular, but slightly above average. He played so much in his rookie season mainly because of his defense. You have a guy that's playing almost 38 mpg a night, is the 3rd scoring option in his team, is actually a good playmaker with 4 apg who also rebounds and shoots alright, it's imaginable that he'll not be the teams best defensive wing on every given night, which he anyway is. I said it's pricey, but Parsons isn't just potential and is a far better signing than Bosh at the moment.

Bosh cemented the team and it's ability to make significant moves around the roster. A 6'10 softy who gets eaten on the low block shouldn't be worth that kind of money. Especially how he gets pummeled by the better centers in the NBA.

It's almost stupid to see someone arguing that Chandler's defense is good while Bosh's bad. Realize Bosh played out of his life long natural position and protected mid for one of the top defensive teams in the league. Even with Dwight and Asik, the Rockets struggled to death because their perimeter defense didn't exist. Unsurprisingly the Rockets' defense improved without him on the floor by 2.4 pts per 100 possessions.

I'm not going further into this discussion because it's just stupid. But I will tell you this. Bosh was a superstar when he signed with the Heat and was well worth the contract. Parsons is far from a superstar and very doubtful to live up to the money he's about to receive. This is no brainer.
