Cleveland Now Frontrunner for LeBron

Mon Jul 07, 2014 1:55 pm

Chris Broussard: Cleveland has replaced Miami as my frontrunner to land LeBron James...
Chris Broussard: I'm not saying LJ to Cavs is done deal or I know 4 a fact; just my gut feeling based on many conversations I've had around this story... These convos aren't sourced enough 4 me to report as fact. But I've heard enough to believe "the wind is blowing" LJ back home. We'll see..

I've seen a few sportswriters put together some compelling arguments as to why it makes sense and why it's possible, but...I'll believe it when I see it. That's not to say it isn't a possibility, if the stuff we've heard in the past few days is accurate, but it feels like a lot of people are jumping the gun. I guess we'll find out soon enough though.

Cavs took down the Dan Gilbert letter: http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/post/_/ ... rs-website

Even if Gilbert looked like an idiot with that letter props to him for being man enough to let it stay up for four years unlike Kevin Durant who deleted his tweets hating on Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard.

Various sites are starting to report that it's all but a done deal, or "90% likely" and things of that nature. Seems like there's something to it, so it may well happen after all, but need we forget...

My friends were hyped up too and argued me how they're so sure LBJ is going back to the Cavaliers, referring to '90%' article. I said, "you idiots let's make a bet", and they copped out after hearing my reasons.

You look at the situation, it makes more sense that he stays put in Miami. He met with Riley and crew personally but never had a meeting with the Cavaliers and has no plan to either. It's said that he has all the info he needs to make a decision now. His agent did make a contact with the Cavs though if it means much to anyone. As for the Cavs, they're trying to lure LBJ but at what leverage do they have? Irving's a big question mark still in development. And the roster is super thin. This team FAILED to make the playoffs and came short in every possible way. They simply aren't even a playoffs team in EAST:shake:. Remember the media fucking with CLE on how they fucked up any chance at getting LBJ back? That was until just two weeks ago. Also ask about CLE's cap situation, you're paying many scums great money. You're possibly looking at at least one wasted year for LBJ in terms of contending at the highest level though it's possible. The Heat are an instant winner over the Cavs even with salary.

"Hey but Wade's done, he sucks! So he's better off in CLE." - Sure. But Wade opted out, Bosh opted out next, and are willing to take less to improve the team that made to the Finals 4 seasons in a row. Would you ditch that for the Cavailers that isn't even a playoffs team?

Kevin Love: The Cavailers simply have to give up too much to land Love. And if LBJ doesn't come, it'd be all for nothing. If Love was a condition for LBJ to sign with the Cavs, it'd make more sense for LBJ to have more serious talk with the Cavs but he so far had ZERO meetings with them. The Cavs need to deal for Love first and tell LBJ "Hey we got him, you come now". Cost of it would be too much and risk is too vast.

If ever, LBJ decides to return to the Cavs, it'd be more for sentimental reasons. So far the media has made too much out of it as they have nothing better to do. Most signs are still leading to the Heat retaining the trio. Even Bosh has no deal in place with the Rockets yet despite the hype.

I have a feeling too much's been made out of nothing. LBJ 90% hype is just silly. It's more convincing that this is more of LBJ pressuring owner and Riley to do something and break their bank account for once ffs.

It's reasonable they're panicking. They just don't know right now whether they have to be Heat or Cavs fans next season...

LeBron James left the meeting without committing to a deal with the Heat, league source tells Yahoo Sports.
Marc J. Spears ✔ @SpearsNBAYahoo
After a meeting that lasted nearly hour with Heat president Pat Riley, a source said that LeBron James now wants to talk to his family.

If that family thing is true...his two kids are going to school in Cleveland and his wife will be with the two kids for sure...for a man who loves to be surrounded by his homies and friends I doubt he can withstand being away from his kids...

I never wanted to root against Lebron. If he goes back to Cleveland I will gladly be rooting for him again. This would be such a cool storyline for his career too. In about 20 years when they are doing a documentary on him, this would make it look even better if he wins a ring with CLE.

Chris Sheridan is reporting that LeBron James has privately made his decision to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers and an announcement will be made on LeBronJames.com.

James is also expected the news to be announced before he leaves for the World Cup Final in Brazil, which will be played on Sunday.

James met with Pat Riley on Wednesday to deliver the news. Riley attempted to get James to reconsider by comparing the relative instability of the Cavaliers compared to the Miami Heat. The meeting lasted one hour and a source said that James' stance did not change.

A source says that James' inner circle, from his wife Savannah to his agent Rich Paul and best friends Maverick Carter and Randy Mims are unanimous that he should return to the Cavaliers.

The Decision has been made, even though it hasn’t been made public by the man himself. LeBron James is returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers, a league source tells SheridanHoops.com. SheridanHoops

Dunno if this is true.

It's looking like it's at least a possibility, but I'm not counting on anything until we see the announcement.

Just remembered also that LeBron James' wife happens to be pregnant, as mentioned by Pat Riley during his end of season rant.

A pregnant wife seals the deal, there's no way LeBron would live far away from them if his family is based in a different state.

Yep, Sauru. Some epic blind hatred will surface then

LeBron probably going back to CLE because of the incapability of Heat failing to make any change whatsoever. If anything, they only made it worse by signing Granger and McRoberts-- both someone LeBron personally didn't have the best time on court. The thought which gave me eargasm was the fact that Ray Allen & Mike Miller are rumored to go with LeBron in CLE as well.

Wouldn't you think he would go back to #23 or is he going for Kobe status by getting 2 numbers retired in Cleveland?

Nah he said no one should ever wear number 23 again and that it should be retired by the NBA.

Stop talking like this is a done deal. Wade spent a day with LBJ. He probably convinced backstabbing LBJ to stay.

If not, I will quit being a NBA fan finally.

lebron going back to cleveland is the best possible thing imo. i think it makes a far better story. of course the heat need to take care of wade if lebron leaves. they need to over pay him at this point as a thank you. he opted out because he pretty much had to if the heat wanted to keep lebron so he did what a good soldier does so if he get screwed in all this i will begin to hate the heat on a whole new level

I wouldn't be too surprised. You always hated the Heat on a unseen level. Sauru

Why? Better story? LoL at you young grasshopper, life isn't a fairy tale. He's going to a shit team with shitty history of building it right to contend. I'd rather have him go somewhere else for basketball sake like Houston, Mavericks, or Bulls. Fuck little story that princesses would read before bedtime.

Yea an all-star point guard, slashing rookie, and one of the greatest players of all time, not to mention the attempt to bring an all-star pf who has already said if LeBron goes he goes, Defiantly sounds like a shit tier team to me. 0fer season anyone?
