Dunleavy up for Lakers/New York Job

While one source close to the situation said Dunleavy is not at the top of Jackson's list, the source acknowledged he is indeed a candidate.

Interesting. Sounds like Jackson wants to tank early, and build through the draft/pick trade.

With all the names being thrown into the discussion, I don't really see a need for making a thread for a coach who probably won't make a team in the NBA.

Dunleavy's ok I guess. But honestly two coaches I want back are George Karl and Jerry Sloan. Why are none of the teams interested in them?

Might be age and health issues. Aren't both guys in their 70's?

Last time I've heard of George Karl was him having a disease or something.

George Karl is 63 and has had a couple of cancer scares, but as far as I've read he's currently in good health. Jerry Sloan is 72, Mike Dunleavy is 60.

Dunleavy's had some decent years as a coach, being the Coach of the Year in 1999 and owning a respectable enough record in the Playoffs. His regular season record is sub .500 thanks to helming some very underwhelming Bucks teams in the 90s and Clippers teams in the past decade, but he's capable enough with a decent roster at his disposal. That said, I don't think it's a hiring that Lakers or Knicks fans should get too excited about, should it come to pass.

Yikes! Honestly I'd want to avoid hiring one of those retread coaches, especially if their first name is Mike.
