Call It: Race for the #8 Seed in the East

Thu Apr 10, 2014 10:15 am

It's not as exciting as the Western Conference Playoff Race, but we have two teams trying desperately to eke out enough wins to sneak into the playoff picture in the East as the eighth seed, in the Hawks and Knicks. Who makes it?

Hawks. Knicks are just going by luck, that won't get them anywhere. Hawks have been a much better team(whole chemistry thing) this season.

I'd prefer the Knicks as I think that'd be the more interesting first round series, but I have a feeling they've blown it. Hawks get my vote as well.

What the hell are you talking about? Last year this same team won 50 games... they have the squad to compete but somewhat they decided to be divas/drama queens this season...

With the Knicks facing playoff-bound teams, which themselves are also fighting for higher spots, everything favors the Hawks to claim the 8th spot...

I meant if Hawks win the rest of their games, even Knicks winning all the rest of the games won't matter.

They don't really have a squad to compete anymore. Their players are not consistent at all. Even if they made it to the playoffs somehow, Pacers will do them 4-0.

I had the Knicks at 8th in my pre-season prediction thread but I will go with the Hawks. Props to the Knicks though as they made this interesting.

Anyway, here's an interesting blog post about the Knicks.

Last year's squad had veteran leadership.

Would have been a good debate a week ago but now it's a lock for Atlanta.

Can't really believe that they are in the playoffs right now. Oh well...they are gonna face either Indiana or Miami tho

Hawks deserve it, yeah they will be facing a very tough opponent. But I've never thought that they will grab the 8th spot.

If Heat VS Hawks on 1st round, I'm betting on 4-0 sweep by Hawks. Fuck that tired kneeless team Heat

Pretty impressive way to clinch a Playoff spot, congrats to the Hawks. We can certainly debate the current Playoff system, but nevertheless, they're in fair and square.

A disappointing season for the Knicks to say the least. It'll be interesting to see what happens from here with Phil Jackson running the show. Can he work some magic and does he wield enough influence for a player like Melo to want to stick around?

Well, it would've been much more better if he was the one COACHING the Knicks.

Even then, there's only so much he could've done, given when he was brought into the fold and the hole they were already in.

The Lakers had quality players back then, and their management was good. As for the Knicks, well........just look at Andrea Bargnani........
