A wild-card for FIBA WC2014 costed 1,000,000 CHF

CHF -> Swiss Franc

I have a resource for CHF thing, but it's Turkish.

Let me summarize.

Turkey, who was runners-up in 2010 FIBA WC (with this shot), has given 1,000,000 CHF to pick-up one of the 4 wild-cards for FIBA 2014 World Cup. My country's basketball team had failed in Eurobasket 2013 as being eliminated in first group stage. Other teams are Brazil, Finland (they were in top 12 at Eurobasket 2013, don't be ashamed) and Greece.

All of them gave 1,000,000 CHF, which equals to 1,108,000 $ to pickup this wild-card. Even Greece has given it, with support of its federation's sponsor, Eurobank.

It's so disgusting to participate in World Cup with paying money IMO.

After re-branding it from World Championships to World Cup, I figured they were trying to make more money off of the sport. I tihnk they were disappointed with the fact that Olympic basketball is the Pinnacle of International basketball and they made no money off of that.
