Early word on this Pacers-Suns deal is that Phoenix will receive Gerald Green and draft considerations in exchange for Indy-bound @LScola4
Specifics on draft compensation still being discussed but initial report on @LScola4 to Indy from @juansebastia had deal being finalized SAT
Our new friend "IN HEAT" is probably quaking in his boots right about now thinking about that Pacers frontcourt.

Because they don't give more minutes to Joel Anthony.

OMG you guys really think Lui Cola is going to make a difference against the Heat? HELP, IN HEAT!

If a flopper like Shane Battier considers Scola the best flopper in the league even when they were teammates then with the Rockets then you know Scola's good.

OFF: Hansbrough signed with Toronto.
Good trade for both sides. Luifa now plays for a good team whocan fight for something important and being a good role player behing West and Hibbert
For the suns, the are fixing the logjam problem at the frontcourt. Now they "only" have Gortat, Mc and Mk Morris, Frye (if healthy) Len

no worries heat fans you will have oden soon and he will be the best player on the court for the 15-18 games he plays
Sun Jul 28, 2013 7:47 am
I hope that 15-18 will be the playoffs games entirely.
Anyhoo, props to Larry Bird. He lost Tyler Hansbrough but nicely replaced him with Luis Scola. That's gotta be pretty nice. Does this solidify their #2 status in East or should we say... Nets?

lets call the pacers 1A and the nets 1B and the heat AAA

15-18 games over 2 or 3 seasons

I like the trade for Indiana in the short-term. Essentially, they receive another David West (in terms of skill set) to come off the bench, adding solid big man depth. Offensively, Scola is definitely an upgrade over Plumlee and Mahinmi. As for the Suns, maybe they'll be able to find a late first round gem in next year's draft, a likely scenario considering the talent that will be available.

Good trade for the Pacers, Scola's a suitable replacement for Hansbrough and they didn't give up anything they couldn't afford. Perhaps Green will have a bit more luck cracking the rotation in Phoenix.

Nobody knows yet how this trade will pan out for either team. But it is my gut feeling that with the current CBA the Pacers should have held on to the 1st rnd pick. They could probably made a decent pick up for a player with similar skill/value to scola from the FA market. Maybe they could have held out for the same trade without giving up the 1st rnd pick. But hey, if he is the piece that pushes the Pacers over the top, then it will all be worth it.

considering that 1st round pick would have been a late pick since the Pacers should be one of the top team sin the East, I think it's a good trade for them. his salary is on the books for only 2yrs so I don't see how it limits them with the new CBA.
I don't think Scola is a particularly great player but his ability to score off the pick and roll should give fits to teams that play legalized zone defense (Miami, Chicago, etc)
