Poll: NLSC Census Draft Prospect Rankings 2013: #3

( Click here to open current poll: #5 )

With the goal of getting a widely ranked representation of the 2013 prospects from the NBA fans' perspective, i've created this poll. The mock drafts around the net are often deceiving when attempting to identify/rank upcoming talent in the NBA, since they take into account team needs. Essentially, this ranking will be based on projected NBA impact of the prospects. Throw team-needs out the window. Every pick is based on consensus preference of BPA (best player available)

Hopefully some day in the distant future we can look back at these rankings and see where the sleepers and busts were perceived by NBA fans.

The concept is simple: Each rank (#1, #2, #3, and so on) will be voted on separately with a new poll. If a player "wins" with the most votes, then he will be "placed", and will not be eligible for the next poll. Every 12 hours or so, I will post the next pick in the rank order. The results will be shown as we go. The poll is based on multiple choice, and you cannot input your own names. So if a player you want to vote for isn't there, then feel free to make a case for him to be listed in the next poll in the threads.

I'm also going to post this poll at various other NBA forums for the sake of bigger sample size.

After the rankings are done (hoping for a top 50 or so), then i will plug our rankings into an excel-sheet i've got going on right now, and average it out with all the top draft sites's top 50 (draftexpress, chad ford, nbadraft.net, shutupandjam.net) and create an article on consensus prospect rankings from around the net. I will post the results here.

Again, this is not a mock draft. We're voting for the player (of the players available in that particular poll) whose career we believe will see the most success in the NBA. Consider it a form of scouting/research.

If you feel uneducated on prospects, some great resources are:

So who would you draft if you were a GM choosing a player for your team with all things being equal? Here's the results so far...

1. Nerlens Noel (42%)
2. Ben McLemore (37%)
3. Otto Porter (47%)
4. Anthony Bennet (32%)

I voted for McLemore based on team needs, not "best available"

Same here. Voted for McLemore as #1 based on the same thoughts. My#2 would by Victor Oladipo. I don't give much for Noel now because of his injury.

Noel should go Nr 1 ... I mean you look at the impact of big men like Hibbert, Noah, Gasol ... if he just turns out to be a borderline All-Star, he is already quite valuable in this league.

That's why I'd rank him somewhere between #5-8.
I have to agree to the fact, that big men are very valuable in this leage, so I'd put Alex Len at #4 and in front of Noel.

Didn't you read the description?

Ben McLemore is #2.

It's not the choice i would've made personally, but the majority have spoken and McLemore will have the 2nd best career of all prosepcts in the draft according to the fans. Of 108 voters, 40 (37%) voted for McLemore. The top 3 runner ups were: 20 (19%) voted for Oladipo, 18 (17%) voted for Porter, and 9 (8%) voted for Burke. You can see more stats by clicking McLemore's name in the rankings table of the original post.

Anthony Bennett is #4

In what started as a tight race, Anthony Bennett has shot through as #4 rated prospect. Bennet is an explosive and skilled scoring forward. There are questions about his height (6'7"), his defensive abilities, and whether or not his skillset will translate to a defined position in the NBA (PF or SF). But he is very young and very talented. Of 160 voters, 51 (32%) voted for Bennet. The top 3 runner ups were: 33 people (21%) voted for Oladipo, 23 people (14%) voted for Len, and 22 (14%) voted for Adams (!). Interestingly, Burke came up 5th in the voting for #4, despite coming in 3rd in voting for #3. You can see more stats by clicking Bennet's name in the rankings table of the original post.
