Parody in the NBA

I find it interesting now, how much more I have become impressed by the men in the 60s era. Recently, for one reason or another I got on a kick to watch film of the great Bill Russell & Wilt Chamberlain. From there of course I moved to other films of that time trying to create the Era in question in my mind (or at least better understand it). See I've seen the All-Star games from that time, and in comparison to today's marvel of understanding the game- it was nothing too impressive honestly. But then I saw other film these guys had out about them. One in particular caught my eye- Wilt Chamberlain blocking a shot. Now for most, this may not be new (70s Wilt wasn't as spectacular to see), but this man flew. His hands were over the backboard. He had a phenomenal vertical, and I found it to be interesting when I saw Bill Russell actually did too. These guys were track stars playing in the NBA. "I was just an athlete.. An athlete who learned how to play basketball." - Bill Russell. Then you had to deal with Oscar Robertson who was that eras version of LeBron James. A walking triple double who was a size nightmare. However, I picked up something extra for him- he achieved that triple double status nightly. These guys however from my estimation simply were more athletic, bigger, and better than their opponents.

What I found more interesting was when I flipped on NBA TV recently and seen guys like Dwight Howard, Tyson Chandler, Noah, McGee, etc. These guys are very long athletic freaks in their own right. McGee in particular can jump out of the gym. In fact, when I seen his highlight blocking recently where he jumped straight up and caught the ball- it looked like Wilt in the footage I seen of him. Then you have LeBron James who plays a lot like Oscar Robertson in the statistical sense (and with his tendency to look for other players first). These guys are just far more athletic, bigger, stronger than everyone else and that makes them better in most cases. I am not saying these guys today are the better versions of the 60s players- nor am I saying the 60s guys are better than the players today. However, what I am saying is they're comparable to me in the individual sense in how they play and look in today's game. Often the game looks like a track meet between teams, and in footage I seen of the 60s it was very similar. I find that parody to be more interesting. Any thoughts? Agree / Disagree. Thanks for the read also. :)

My bad for posting in the wrong section. I just noticed I did it. I guess I got carried away with the idea for the post, and wanted to get my opinion out. Haha. My bad. :)
