2012-2013 Offseason

Wed Jun 27, 2012 10:12 am

Detroit has traded Ben Gordon and a protected future first-round pick to Charlotte for Corey Maggette, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Source.

First of many to come with draft day not too far away..

So andrew, gonna move to charlotte and get the 2 years of season tickets now right?

Holy shit. Talk about highway robbery. Even if Gordon is a horrible fit for Charlotte, he's an upgrade over Maggette, plus we get a pick from Detroit which is:
    lotto protected in 2013
    top 8 protected in 2014
    top 1 protected in 2015
    unprotected in 2016

Wow.

All I want out of Ben Gordon is one game that resembles Andrew's dynasty story.

Detroit save some cash... Charlotte anticipating drafting MKG?

Well, it comes down to MKG, Robinson or Barnes. As MJ is involved, anything is still possible... ;)
After getting rid of Maggette, MKG or Barnes would be decent choices.

Concerning Maggette's injuries and age it isn't the worst move Bobcats could've made. Moneywise I'm not sure. Gordon will earn about 25 mio over the next two years which is quite a lot. On the other hand chances were already slim that Bobcats could land a top level free agent anyway.

I have to admit that I haven't followed Gordon that closely since he left the Bulls, my enthusiastic use of him in my NBA Live 06 Dynasty aside. So I probably won't be making that move. ;)

It didn't really pan out for him in Detroit, but hopefully he can get another fresh start in Charlotte. Not a bad move for the Bobcats, though they will miss out on benefiting from Maggette's expiring contract. That loss becomes the Pistons' gain; they'll probably gladly take whatever he can give them on the court but financially speaking, it was a good deal for them.

You might be setting yourself up for disappointment there! He had some good moments for the real Bulls earlier in his career though, including a few clutch baskets from time to time. I'd say he's still capable of being a quality scorer.

Not a bad trade. The Bucks got rid of a bunch of not-so-good players and only went down two spots in the draft while getting a quality big to replace Bogut, while the Rockets got a bunch of players for their evil plan to get Howard and take over the world. Kudos!

Really glad the Rockets are doing everything possible to get out of that 9th place shithole.

so many rumors going around and none involving the celtics. they probably wont do a damn thing and be crap while doing nothing to rebuild lol

Rockets/Bucks is a funny trade because it only solidifies their statuses as the #9 teams in their respective conferences. I think Milwaukee actually wins this though, giving up three bad players and moving down just two slots to acquire a starting center with an expiring deal.

Meanwhile, Morey will prove his genius by drafting three decent role players, then swapping them for mid-first rounders (to be used on more serviceable role players) later on.

All this that Houston is doing acquiring draft picks is making my head hurt. I sure hope Morey knows what he's doing because Dalembert was really serviceable this year.

I would not mind if Howard plays for Houston next season, but the Rockets should think twice about it. They should have learned from the Knicks trading to much for 1 player, or the Nets who are still on a razors edge if Williams does not resign.

Tough thing in the West right now...

Morey's got an evil plan and I think it all starts with Dwight. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with Dwight and Deron.

Lamar Odom traded to Clippers, Mo Williams to Jazz

The Dallas Morning News is reporting on a unique trade which would send Lamar Odom back to the Los Angeles Clippers and Mo WIlliams to the Utah Jazz. The deal is contingent on Williams exercising his player option next season, which essentially allows him a no-trade clause. This is the same iteration of a deal from a few days ago which involved the Lakers acquiring Mo Williams. The Mavericks are motivated to trade Lamar Odom as a buyout would cost the team over $2 million in salary cap space for next season.

Not surprised to see Odom moving on. I doubt there was ever much chance of a reconciliation in Dallas.

He must be trying to do a repeat of 1998, except in 98, they didn't draft Lewis who they seemingly gave a promise to and wound up paying for it with draft busts
