According to Danny Ainge.
Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge spoke with free-agent center Kevin Garnett last week, but Ainge said no decision on Garnett's future is imminent. That leaves Boston's offseason plan in a state of uncertainty with the new league year approaching July 1.
Despite a strong finish to his 17th season in the league, the 36-year-old Garnett is pondering retirement and needs time to make a decision about his basketball future.
"Kevin and I had a good conversation last week and the conversation was mostly on how he needs time before he makes that decision," Ainge said during an in-studio appearance Wednesday afternoon on Boston sports radio WEEI-93.7 FM. "I think we'll talk within the next week, but I'm not so sure that's a decision day for him. He may want to wait and see what sort of team we have. I'm not sure.
It wouldn't be too great a surprise; at age 36 and with 17 seasons under his belt, he's got a lot of miles on the clock. It wouldn't be a bad decision to step away from the game while he's still playing at a reasonably high level, though it would be a shame at the same time as he had a bit of a bounce back season this year. He could probably have a couple more productive years in the league if he decides to stick around.

He's said this before. I think he's going through the same thing Sheed did about winning or staying loyal.
Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:39 am
I think he can still play another 2-3 seasons, but I can't say retirement would be wrong.
Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:23 am
i am pretty sure either way he wont be a celtic next year so i rather see him retired as one than go to some other team

I hope the Heat pick him up along with Oden and Nash this offseason. Maybe Ray Allen as well, and couple of players like Camby and Felton wouldn't hurt either.
Fri Jun 22, 2012 8:14 am
The Heat can't sign him.He would ask for too much and Kevin Garnett doesn't like Wade or Lebron.

Why Nash and Oden? Pick up Deron and Dwight as well. It will be so easy for the Heat to get those players.

How are they going to make that happen?
Fri Jun 22, 2012 12:49 pm
i hope they heat pick up all those players too. then i hope they win 10 in a row. then when someone says lebron was a top 10 player i can counter with "then why did he hide behind hall of famers his entire career".

Never. Was a joke but those are the players that any team would be interested in this coming off season I believe.

Bill Russell played with a slew of Hall of Famers, too.

That's what the old man was implying Andrew. He still can't get over people saying that about Russell.

ya but there was only 2 teams in the league back then so everyone was a hall of famer

Why not just buy out Melo, Dwight, CP3 from their teams and sign them too and bribe Stern to change the rules to allow teams from Miami to have 30-man rosters?
I wish KG returns, doesn't matter which team but preferably the Celtics, they just won't be the same without him and Allen. I'm not the biggest fan of the Celtics, but I got great respect for them and it would be a shame to break it up. On the other note, they would definitely have one more if not two more runs for a championship in them. Every year I hear "this is the last shot for the Celtics to win it all" and yet they come back and prove everyone wrong the next year. They more than proved it in these playoffs by taking the eventual NBA champion Miami Heat to 7 games. If they change up their roster just a little bit by adding players that potentially could remain healthy throughout the year and the playoffs (DO NOT RE-SIGN JERMAINE O'NEAL!!!), they might very well be the 2nd best team in the east behind Miami next season.

One of the guys who has a program on WWLS, OKC Sports Radio, said today he would love to see Garnett as a Thunder. I was like,,,, what?!?
Sun Jun 24, 2012 3:32 pm
What else would he have said? "Fuck no, what the hell would OKC want Garnett for?"
He'd be a really good fit for the Thunder who absolutely need a big who can score with consistency. They just simply don't have the money unless he agrees to make the minimum.

KG in Oklahoma? *shudders*
We've seen how nasty KG/Perkins combo was back in Boston. Throw Ibaka into the mix, now that's even more scary. And KG unlike the other two can hit 15 footers and that should open up the floor for others.

NovU showing his unexceptional basketball knowledge like always.
And KG-Perkins combo would suck. They were good because of Thibs system. KG-Ibaka would be more effective.
Sun Jun 24, 2012 5:19 pm
He shot .200 eFG from distance this season, excluding threes and close to basket shots. Get me a few more of those highlights though, looking good.
Sun Jun 24, 2012 5:33 pm
That's because 15 ft. isn't Ibaka's preferred spot. Try farther.
Ibaka
10-15 ft: .256, 0.7 attempts
16-23 ft: .460, 2.6 attempts
Bosh
10-15 ft: .495, 1.8 attempts
16-23 ft: .400, 4.9 attempts
Garnett
10-15 ft: .404, 2.3 attempts
16-23 ft: .480, 6.0 attempts
And NovU's math sucks.
Sun Jun 24, 2012 7:20 pm
3.3 attempts. Lolz. In total, 1.4 ppts per game at 0.424 fg for Ibaka from distance, compared to 3.8 ppt on 0.458 for KG.
Are you retarded or something? That was exactly my point.
Sun Jun 24, 2012 7:48 pm
Your point was also implying that Ibaka has no range of more than 15 ft. or long jumpers which would not "open up the floor for others" that is absolutely retardedly wrong like all of what you always posts.
Also it's retarded to compare the points/attempts made by Ibaka to Garnett considering that Ibaka is the 4th scoring option
at best in OKC as compared to Garnett who's
at least the 2nd option this past season. Also, that 1.4 you got is not points but FGM. That's why some people hate the stats side of basketball because of retards like you that ruin it.
Again,
your math sucks.
Stop being retarded, maybe you should go to college oh wait.
Still, stop being retarded, you're becoming NLSC proof that not all people who go to college are smarter as discussed in that other thread.

Ibaka just developed what is still a shaky mid range and KG always has been a prolific scorer from pretty much everywhere on the court, even without getting assisted unlike Ibaka. But you again like a bitch as you are nitpicking on my post despite a marginal difference in the stats.
And thanks for your advice but I will have to turn it down as it suits your case better as your constant being of an online dickwad isn't a healthy thing, so perhaps a change in your life by getting some education yourself is a smart option.
