I’m reading a lot of reports coming out about my comments re: the Olympics and compensation. And I want to clear this up personally...I responded 2 a specific question asked by a reporter on my thoughts of Olympians being paid. I never asked to be paid to PLAY. What I was referencing is there is a lot of Olympic business that happens that athletes are not a part of. It’s a complicated issue. BUT my love 4 the game & pride 4 USA motivates me more than any dollar amount. I repped my country in 2004 when we won the silver medal and stood proudly to receive our gold medal in 2008 in Beijing. It’s always been an honor for me to be a part of the USA Olympic family & I’m looking forward to doing it again in London this summer.

If they're talking about licensing - commercials, jersey sales, etc - then I'd say they have a valid point, one that was perhaps put across clumsily and is always going to look bad when it's millionaires talking about making more money. I doubt it keeps him off the team, to do so would be to cut their nose off to spite their face. Offer a rebuttal in response to his comments or address the issue behind closed doors, but you don't exclude one of the best American born players in the league right now from playing for Team USA just to prove a point.

If the Olympic teams don't want to pay them they can select players who will do it for free.

Sad but true the whole Olympic Spirit turned into a huge marketing and commercialisation. Not only basketball, the whole event...

For what it's worth: Wade says money not an Olympic motivator

Heat guard Dwyane Wade says money is not his motivation for the London Games this summer.

In a statement Thursday, Wade said, ''I do not want to be paid to go to the Olympics.''

Wade was quoted Wednesday saying he thinks ''guys should be compensated'' for playing over the summer and noted the schedule demands of being an Olympian. He said he was responding to a question about Olympians being paid, and never said he needed to be paid to play.

Speaking from his supporter perspective, Wade shouldn't be making comments like that. The Heat are still under microscope and anything the trio says should arise an issue. And adds to the already exists negative reputation. I mean people and media were almost getting back to their normal routine of hating-Kobe mode.

Idiocy seems to be thing now with the Heat trio. He should have learned more what Ray Allen was talking about so Wade could have made his statement carefully and expressed his intent clearly so people won't think he's a douchebag just wanting to get paid.
