Nene to Wizards, McGee to Nuggets, Young to Clippers

The Denver Nuggets have traded Nene to the Washington Wizards in exchange for JaVale McGee and Ronny Turiaf. The Los Angeles Clippers, acting as a facilitator, agreed to send Brian Cook and a future second-round pick to the Wizards in exchange for shooting guard Nick Young.

I feel for Nene. For all the people saying players should be loyal to teams, well Nene was. Look where he gets him, traded to the woeful Wizards.

Good trade for Wizards to get Nene. He helps somewhat.

I like Clippers' addition of Young. Young returns to his former stomping ground (he played at USC) & should be a good fit.

Good for both Wizards and Clippers on the paper I guess. Jordan Crawford was as good as Nick Young and now should see more minutes. Nick Young meanwhile will fill the void for Chauncey Billups.

Not sure about McGee though. He should be producing at a similar level but if he could mature asap, Denver will look like a winner I guess, with McGee's young and promising future.

Picking "trade winners" is retarded.

As for the trade, if anyone can set McGee's head straight even while in Denver it's George Karl. Just look at what he was able to produce out of Melo and J.R. Smith and currently with Birdman.

Not really but Jordan can score as good as him and is younger. Pretty much same shit.

Edit: And I hear Wilson Chandler is to be available for Denver in a day or two. Moving Nene allowed the cap. Waive Turiaf and all good to go.

I don't see the logic in this for Washington. You're 9-32 and in rebuilding mode so you trade arguably your best player for an aging borderline all-star PF/C? Poor Nene.

Denver does well in the deal. It's a shame to see Nene go after all these years, but the team was stuck on a mediocrity treadmill, and I think McGee could get his head on straight in a less dysfunctional franchise.

Normally I wouldn't praise the acquisition of Nick Young, but when you're starting Randy Foye...

McGee-Andersen-Faried is quite the epic shot blocking front court to roll out for five or ten minutes of energy a game.

According to Hollinger the way this deal went down, McGee and Turiaf were absorbed by the Felton exception and dealing Nene has thus left them a $13 million exception. (As an aside, Nick Young was fit into the Gordon exception. Trade exceptions, gotta love em!)

Delicious.

Poor Nene...I would think he would be able to put up good numbers in Washington for my fantasy basketball though.

I was initially annoyed by this trade, but now I don't mind it. It's a good situation for McGee, since he's clearly the best centre on the team and George Karl will hopefully keep him in line. Adding Wilson Chandler as well makes the Nuggets a very deep team (they were already even before), so I'd say they're looking pretty good coming up to the playoffs... as long as they don't meet OKC

Not sure what the Wizards will do with Nene. With the length of his contract, I could see him bouncing around the league the next few seasons, which is a shame, since he was with one team for so long.

Nick Young... well, the Clippers got pretty much what they needed I guess.

I'd say all three teams came out of the trade alright. The Clippers filled a need, the Wizards shipped out a headcase and the Nuggets got younger with a big trade exception up their sleeve to boot. The biggest winner is probably McGee who now gets to play for a team with a winning record and good chance at holding on to a playoff spot, while Nene is the biggest loser as he joins the circus in Washington.

Faried and McGee? Yes please!

Washington and Clippers did very well. Clips got nick young for pretty much free, and wizards got rid of 2 headaches.

Now they just need to get rid of Blatche.

Tough call. Lewis' deal is finally up after next season though and that might make him slightly more tradeable as an expiring contract, so perhaps they could amnesty Blatche. I'd try to find a taker first though.

why are people feeling bad for nene? he got that 5yr/$67 mil contract in the offseason.

i think Washington is the winner here. They weren't going to resign neither Mgee nor Young and they managed to get in return an offensive juggernaut (when healthy).

He's gone from a fairly agreeable situation in Denver to a losing team with its fair share of headcases in Washington. From a basketball standpoint, that can't be a whole lot of fun, though the $13 million a year probably does soften the blow a bit.

Nene just hasn't shown up this year neither for Denver and Washington. He needs to step up if wants to live up to a contract.

Field goal percentage aside, his numbers aren't too far off last year. He's only played a couple of games for the Wizards too, so it's a bit too soon to say that.

Field goal percentage is what made him valuable though. His True Shooting is down by .100 with increased usage which imo is a good enough reason why the Nuggets weren't winning as many games. If such a valuable piece of your team performs way under at the expected level, the team's not going to do as well. After all he was one of the most efficient players in last 3 previous seasons with 120, 124, 123 ORTG but he has mere 102 this season.

What happened? Cuz such a drop in the stats isn't normal unless an injury or deprived motivation.

His field goal numbers are down, but having said that they aren't exactly terrible. He's not having a particularly bad year across the board, though it's admittedly not his best either. He's certainly not alone in that regard in this lockout afflicted 2012 season.

As for his performance with the Wizards, so far his numbers are actually closer to the ones he posted in 2011 but again it's only been a few games.

Wait, increasing a player's usage decreases his efficiency? Why has nobody discovered this?
