Kings will stay in Sacramento a bit longer... Good news for the city.

Indeed. Kudos to Kevin Johnson for helping get it done.

Arena deal for Sacramento falls apart

NEW YORK -- The Kings' future in Sacramento is uncertain again.

A tentative deal for a new arena is falling apart, leaving open the possibility the team's owners could again try to move from California's capital.

The Maloof family has balked at terms of the deal that was reached last month, and though they say they want to remain in Sacramento, mayor Kevin Johnson isn't so sure after meeting with them Friday and hearing their list of concerns he said hadn't previously been disclosed.

As they say, a handshake agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on. As one might expect, Stern has thrown in the towel and copping flak for it.

I don't doubt that they'll play in Anaheim for the next season or two, but I think there's a very good chance the Maloofs sell the Kings sooner than later, My concern is that Larry Ellison buys them and moves them to like San Jose.

I don't know if HP Pavilion/THe Shark Tank is big enough or fancy enough to be an NBA arena

Has more seats and is newer than ARCO.

Also, Larry Ellison is insane no matter what he does involving the Kings.

Vancouver, not Seattle, might be ‘most viable spot’ to move NBA’s Sacramento Kings

I would welcome the Kings and Lamrock to the city with utmost respect and love. But I will still want the Grizzlies name back.

I still feel the NBA would be more inclined to give Seattle an expansion team which would get the Sonics' names, colours and history, officially recognising it as a continuation of the former franchise similar to what happened in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns.

Money has to be put forward and an arena has to be built before that can happen.
