More Warrior Woes: NVE wants out already

Fri Sep 12, 2003 6:52 pm

The link to the original article at RealGM.com is incorrect, so I'll quote the extract:

Bergen Record: The New York Knicks still want to upgrade their point guard position and talented lead guard Nick Van Exel still wants to become a Knick. The Knicks' Antonio McDyess and the Timberwolves' Sam Cassell also want Van Exel to join the Knicks.

Van Exel and McDyess, former teammates in Denver, talk about it all the time, Van Exel said. Cassell offered his opinion when he was asked if he was surprised Latrell Sprewell was traded for Keith Van Horn. Cassell replied, "The Knicks need Nick Van Exel right now."

Van Exel went from Dallas to Golden State on Aug. 18, and can't be moved before Oct. 18. It's clear Van Exel doesn't want to stay in Golden State. Knicks' general manager Scott Layden has tried to acquire Van Exel before. So Van Exel continues to hope.

"I would love to play for the Knicks," he said. "I'm hoping. That's all I can do."

Jamison may not have become the player the Warriors hoped he would be, but it seems they've traded him for a player who has no intention of playing for them. It hasn't been a good offseason for Golden State. :?

I wish NVE would go to New York! Think he would love it and would be good for him!

Would be nice to see but is it really that possible?

According to RealGM's Trade Checker, the only players that New York could trade straight up for Nick the Quick are Van Horn and McDyess. I doubt New York would trade either, so they'd have to package a couple of players (say, Shandon Anderson and Charlie Ward, or Charlie Ward and Howard Eisley) if they want to get NVE.

My god, don't even get me started with those news... Poor Warriors (N)

who would be their starting sf???weatherspoon or anderson? and GS wouldnt make a such trade...they dont need a sf(yeah KVH is a pf but everyone use him as a sf) cause why did they trade Jamison? to get a better point guard and start Dunleavy,i think GS should trade NVE to a team that has offer a good point guard too, like for Jason Terry + both teams add some other players!

very interesting i thought

that would be good for the knicks since kurt and ward are both 30+.

gsw should've talked to nve before and figured out how he felt so that they couldve gotten a better deal for jamison. now they are losing some of the value in that trade as the middle man.

poor golden state, always getting picked picked on

I hope Nick Van Exel gets traded to the Knicks. With him, a healthy McDyess, and Houston, New York should be back in the playoffs and maybe even make a run at the east title if Alonzo can't play.

Sat Sep 13, 2003 1:22 pm

I don't see why the Knicks would want to move one of their best post players (and their best option to start at centre). I guess their abundance of power forwards would make up for the loss though.

Sat Sep 13, 2003 5:48 pm

This is ugly for GS

Sun Sep 14, 2003 11:42 pm

Knicks wont trade mcdyess because he wanted nve in the first place. Maybe shandon anderson charlie ward and/or a draft pick.

they could push Lampe to play center and O Harrington would make a fine center also.

Mon Sep 15, 2003 12:46 pm

True. It's a shame they can't move Harrington/Weatherspoon instead of Thomas.

Mon Sep 15, 2003 2:43 pm

It's not a shame, it's a bless (Y)

Mon Sep 15, 2003 3:22 pm

If they will trade they'll problably trade Kurt Thomas and Charlie ard for NVE.
My Opinion: the Knicks wont do it b/c then Scott Layden mission, to fuck up the Knicks, would be failed
