Rasheed Wallace mulling over NBA return

Postby Andrew on Sun Jan 15, 2012 10:02 am

As reported by Woj.

Rasheed Wallace is contemplating a comeback to the NBA, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Wallace, who retired after 15 seasons in 2010, has been working out and probing some close league friends about possible destinations to sign for the rest of the season, sources said.

At 6-foot-11, Wallace, 37, had been one of the most versatile and talented power forwards of his era. One league source who has talked with Wallace recently describes him as “serious” about a return to the NBA this season. Nevertheless, no teams contacted by Yahoo! Sports reported that they had any contact with Wallace, or his representative.

If he's in decent shape, I'd imagine someone will show some interest in him at some point. A team with an injury depleted or otherwise thin roster would probably give him a shot.

Speaking of players from the class of '95, I'm hoping Joe Smith comes back for one more year (or even just a game) with a new team, just so he can stand alone with a record 13 different NBA teams through his career.

That would be pretty cool, but I'd also like to see him in Dallas.

I could see the Spurs getting him.Seeing as they have a thing about getting older vets to help out.The last one was Finley.

I think Atlanta should go for him. With Horford down, they could use someone like Sheed I think... if he can get back to the NBA level of play.

I like that idea too.. I think he could still give at least 10-15 quality minutes off the bench.

Seems a plausible scenario to me too, if he is indeed in shape to play.
