The Most under-evaluated player ever

Mon Dec 12, 2011 4:56 pm

I do think Penny Hardaway is the one.

Though he only got a career with a limited prime time, he was the real SuperStar!
Esp 1997 Playoffs Heat vs Magic games 3 to 5 was the most remarkable.
Penny Hardaway SINGLEHANDEDLY turn the game around, and destroyed the Heats which was famous for their defensive. It` s hard to put it into words that how amazing Penny Hardaway was. He can dominant the whole game.

Some highlight of the game between Magic & Heats in 1997

For those who follows today`s NBA, they may not know how great Penny was when he was at his prime. Kobe, Wade, Leborn James are all at their prime now, a scoring machine with high athletic ability and good passing sense, but none of them is a TRUE play-maker.

Penny was the player who not only have amazing scoring ability with his large & slim body, but also got lots of creativity on the court with his wide court vision & passing ability. He `s a prefect combination of PG & SG, just like Magic Johnson.

The different is that Magic got his reputation in his time through winning championship with a long & amazing career...
So sad that he got injury......

Penny played couple good seasons and one great season in his career. Skill-wise he probably had much more to offer than what his career numbers show. But the truth is that he hasn't done much regardless of injuries and all that. Perhaps, he could have been as great as Lebron or Kobe but the bottomline is that it never happened. Fans already well acknowledge all that. I wouldn't say he's underrated.

Penny was great before his injuries, but everybody knows that. I don't think he's the most under-evaluated player ever.

Adrian Dantley, Sam Cassell

Me too.

Penny Hardaway was a very talented player with a very bright future but injuries took their toll and he was never the same past his fourth or fifth season in the league. He may be sometimes overlooked because his time as a star in the league was very brief, but when his name does come up I think he tends to be rated pretty fairly.

I thought the X was going to say Cedric Ceballos or Eddie Jones for sure :P

Dantley definitely. Mark Aguirre, Bernard King come to my mind, too.

As always, who is doing the "rating"?

Dantley and Ceballos come to mind right away. As far as current players go, Gerald Wallace pops up in my head immediately.

Okay, here's my evaluation of Penny Hardaway (hope it helps fill the quota!): Brandon Roy if he decided to keep playing.

You're an ass Lamrock for zinging both Penny and Roy.

I thought about saying Ceballos, but he just doesn't match Dantley & Cassell for under-ratedness. Same with Eddie.
