http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/tyson-chandler-ny-knicks-official-send-andy-rautins-trade-exception-mavericks-article-1.989742It's official. Tyson Chandler joined the Knicks for four years and $56M.
NY has the best front court in the league. No questions asked.
Dallas got Andy Rautins and a trade excpetion in the sign-and-trade, but New York used the amnesty clause on Chauncey Billups. Ronny Turiaf was also shipped to Washington. New York got rights to Ahmad Nivins and Giorgos Prntexis from Dallas.

wish they didn't waive billups, but sounds good for knicks. don't really understand the mav's logic here, trading for andy rautins and a few picks. it wouldn't be too far off to say chandler won the finals for them.

They wouldn't have had the money if Billups wasn't waived. Also, it was a sign-and-trade, not just an ordinary trade, so I didn't expect the Mavs to get much in return, but I wouldn't have minded Landry Fields or Toney Douglas in return.

Sign and Trades aren't that big pick wise..

Well, it's been fun Chandler, good luck on playing on the Knicks

That's some good news man, no more Turiaf and Shelden
or trading for Dwight Howard
FUCK.

The question is can this team step it up defensively? That's how you go deep in the playoffs.

Great move by the Knicks to acquire Chandler but that's left them quite weak at point guard and it doesn't look like they're getting in on the Chris Paul sweepstakes. Chandler is a definite upgrade in the middle, but they've traded one problem for another.

So where will Chauncey go now? If the CP3 trade goes down, would they have enough cap space to get him? He's pissed right now, so whoever wants him is gonna have to up a good offer.

The Heat seem to be in contention for him.

Just saw that on NBA TV, and if it happens plus they get a better 5, or get a healthy UD at the 4 and Bosh at the 5, a Finals Appearence is pratically set.
Sun Dec 11, 2011 12:28 pm
Bosh at 5? Are you serious bro?

There goes the Mavs chances of repeating. Lulz.
Great signing for NY, they get themselves a championship center. One could argue that he has possibly been overpaid, when you consider the new nature of the new CBA. But if he gets them the wins, then you can't really blame them.

Good thing the Mavs got Lamar Odom out of all of this.

Wait what?

58 millions for 4 years? Works out to be 14.5 per year. Seems to me it's a lot of money. But considering last year's performance, perhaps he's worth it. The guy was definitely one of top 30 players in the league. Too bad for the Mavericks that he chased money. I wanted to see the Mavericks remaining intact and to face the Heat once again in the Finals. Still possible but a long shot now.
But as I said before, I thought Chandler was a great player because of his offense last season, not because of his defense. So I am interested to see how the Knicks will transform.

Overpaying for big men is nothing new, proof that the new CBA didn't change all that much.

My thoughts exactly.
Deandre Jordan will be getting 10 mil per year now too. Players will probably get the blame for it next CBA.

Just to add, I believe Bibby is also on the Knicks now, moves happening everywhere...
Mon Dec 12, 2011 8:43 pm
He is. I don't think the Heat will miss him, especially if they end up with Billups.

Wow... at last they noticed their lack in defense
