What do you think about Shane Battier's choise to go to miami ??.I think he is a good back up for lebron james. His defense is good and can shoot the ball too in some situations.what you saying about that choise?>

This could probably have gone in the offseason movement or Heat thread, but I guess it doesn't hurt to liven up this section with a few extra threads.
I think it's a very solid move for the Heat. Their lack of depth in the wake of clearing room to assemble their big three was exposed during the Finals and Battier's a steady veteran who provides excellent defense and some outside shooting.

I like this signing a lot, though this means less time for James Jones. He already was out of the rotation in the Finals.

38.5% career outside shooter, a defensive presense, and a hustle player. Gotta love this move. But ironically I wasn't too concerned about the Heat's defense as they were one of the top in the league in defense anyways. But having Battier I hope will change the culture in offense as well. If he can knock down 3s from the corner as he always has been, the Heat will be unstoppable.
Now, let's go sign that Darlingbear and let the season begin.

It's a good signing if heat use their amnesty on mike miller and sign a center...... like dalembert.
Fri Dec 09, 2011 12:21 pm
Well, they are set to sign a centre but it's not Dalembert...

Eddy Curry doesn't count as a center.

I lol at how Heat fans think the team can sign Dalembert. Heat can't afford him even with MLE. Dalembert wants more money.

I honestly think this deal will bring Miami's already great defense to a whole new level. Whenever LeBron gets a rest, the defensive quality will not drop, because -let's face it- Battier is a pain in the ass.
Also, they could go for ultimate lockdown with these five guys on the floor:
G - Wade
G - Battier
F - James
F - Haslem
C - Anthony
Dear god!

Haslem? Remember that there is a talented boy, play PF... Pretty good... Named Chris Bosh

He said defense. Not offense.

Thank you.

Alejandrov011: just remember those good times in the finals when Dirk tore through Bosh like he was a sheet of wet toilet paper.

He actually is...

I think bosh can play defense too.his footwork and quickness help him a lot.he just to need to improve a bit his muscle strenght. Also he doesn't have the will to play D so much..i think that defense is first soul, heart and then the others..bosh is boring playing D...But he can only if he wants to.

That argument is moot. In my opinion, Bosh will never actually BE a defensive minded player. He could be, as you pointed out. But he doesn't really want to.

Yeah..he can play D but his will to play defense is low..

Well, Miami needs a Center first. Rather than a backup SF.

I hearded that they are near a deal with Eddi Curry(former NY knicks C) .although i don't know if its true

Kinda sad when Badger makes more sense than you.
Sat Dec 10, 2011 6:14 am
I am sorry then xD

Bosh's defense is good is the sense that he can avoid giving up fouls... and his positioning is pretty smart too... but he's never going to lock anyone down, he's too soft.

That's what's been reported, though he's not exactly the centre they needed.

Battier on a big market team?
Shiiit. What a sell-out. Memphis should lynch him.
