Surviving the lockout

Tue Oct 11, 2011 12:43 pm

So now that we know the season officially won't be starting on time with more cancellations likely to follow...what's on tap for you to get through the lockout?

For me it's video games, along with some old game tapes. PonTel are having a sale on some of MJ's games, so I might pick up a couple. I'm thinking I'll take a greater interest in college games this year and will probably give the NBL another shot at some point.

Well, as a sports fan in general, there's always something going on to keep me entertained. I'm going to do my best to watch some NBL games and support is as much as I can.

Other than that, hopefully I can get on a roll with my dynasty. With TV issues and generally being away from home a lot, I haven't been able to give it much love lately.

Nba tv is showing classic games. Set your dvr's. Right now they are showing game 5 of 1988 playoffs. Jordan's first playoff series win against the Cavs. I done really have a vcr to watch old tapes.

Watching old games/ Video games

I got a couple of classic games on my DVR to watch. I'll also play 2k12 once I get it, also with the NHL and the NFL in season, I'll be watching those sports too.

2k12'll be here shortly, I just picked up the 1991 NBA Finals from JB Hi-Fi, I have what must be at least 200 NBA games on DVD, and it's the NBL season. I'll be fine.

Perhaps I will be playing more video games and watching movies with the time supposedly for watching NBA. Of course 2K12 is in my mind.

Mmmm.... well, looks like NBL and A-League will keep me occupied and probably spend more time playing basketball in real life :)

Although I must say thanks to limited coverage over here in Australia - lockout doesn't really affect me as much!

Doesn't affect me too much since I only saw a couple of NBA games last season. Will affect my net surfing habits more, probably check out more NCAA since One sucks these days.

Maybe One will get broadcast rights to the CBA!

But they already got it :)

I love how they are showing the Dragonball movie instead of the NBL at the 8:30pm timeslot this week.

I don't get what they are doing. Surely they are paying big bucks for the games yet they show re runs of shows from before I was born!

You missed out, there were some pretty good games last year. The Finals were definitely worth watching if nothing else, though admittedly that would've been difficult since you don't have Foxtel.

Living vicariously through NBA 2K12 for me. That, and checking for negotiation updates :P

NFL till february..after that, if the NBA's not back...It'll be a long couple months till baseball starts

I'll be playing 2K11 and 2K12, and trying to sit through this weird season of football. The word defense doesn't seem to to apply much anymore...

2K11 should give me a nice helping of basketball, and a bit of NCAA Basketball once the season starts. The season not starting doesn't affect me as much as I've got way too many things to get done, but I will miss tuning in to NBA.com for game highlights and results of yesterday's games. :(

I guess I'll have to settle for that god awful sport known as hockey.....

Frickin Canadians spewing that thing 24/7 on every sports related media anyway.

So, who's the one that'll be passing the time with painting and sculpture?

Re: Surviving the lockout

More racing games (Dirt 2 & 3), and also (for the first time in my life) more book reading. :P

Re: Surviving the lockout

I still have 2K11 and 2K12 installed so along with other games to go for the rest of the year, the NBA season would be just a memory if the lockout cancels all of the season. That, and Pinoys still have the local league.

With all honesty here, though not completely sculpting: I still do scale models and paint them. So maybe that counts.

I don't think a post will properly convey the meaning of their artwork.
