Big Game Rob

Mon Mar 07, 2011 6:31 pm

Remember Robert Horry's Game 5 in 205 Nba Finals(21 of the last 35 point, hit 5 threes) is one of the Mega clutch finals performance. Horry saved the season of the Spurs and Tim Duncan. Made a couple of threes and an incredible dunk everyone realized that the fate of the game is in his hands,Everyone but Rasheed Wallace. His decision to leave Big Shot Rob open in nine or ten seconds remaining in the game was the most dumb mistake ever in NBA Finals history ! How could you leave Robert Horry alone in a big game ? dumb.

Should he have a spot on Hall Of Fame someday?
My answer is yes but he won't get it for sure.
My defense ?

ME: Hey Turn on NBA TV, they're showing a Robert Horry Game.
MY FRIEND: Which one?

That shot made my upset. And no, a good career role player who happens to have hit some opportune shots has no place in the HOF

The answer is no.

Was Horry in an elite class? Yes. That of players who maintained production in the playoffs.

Was Horry an elite player? No.

Horry was 6-11, athletic, with three point range. As a result, he was often left wide open in key situations because he was a matchup disadvantage unless other teams paid attention.

Are you going to put John Paxson in the hall of fame because everyone on the Suns was paying attention to the good players so someone who had an obvious skill that might present a problem was left wide open? What about Steve Kerr, who did the same thing a few years earlier for the Spurs and saved their run in epic fashion in 2003? (Plus that one time or so for the Bulls.)

And your defense? Atrocious.

Why would you call them all Robert Horry Games? They're mostly Robert Horry MOMENTS, no?

You say Robert Horry and I don't think of that game at all. I think of Vlade Divac leaving him open in the Best Western Conference Finals of All Time.

Which brings us back to the original point.

Matchup disadvantage. End of the day, a solid defender who averaged 7 points a game. Sure, stick him in the hall. It's already a joke anyway. It only took a decade to put one of the greatest scorers in the history of the sport in it.

I don't consider Horry a elite player we all know that.

It's their fault to leave him wide open.

Their not Horry Moments because it's big plays or a key shots? .It's what he do,he brings momentum, energy to the game. It's ok when he is not getting the ball but when he is being called he delivers.

There so many games when he hit big shots not just the rigged 2002 Western Conference Finals.

If someone ask me which i would choose: Horry's career(7 rings) or Barkley(0 rings). I pick Horry without hesitating. Imagine this playing on seven champions, earn $55 million and respect from everyone you played with or against with. Have a great game, everyone notices you. Have a terrible game, nobody notices you.

Then you're an idiot. Not a single one of Horry's teams would have rejected a trade of him straight up for Barkley in his prime. Indeed the Rockets a year removed from a title traded Horry for a declining Barkley.

Barkley is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. He dominated offensively despite being 6-4.

Easy test. Was Robert Horry EVER the best player on the team he won a title with? Or even won 50 games with?

Was he the second best?

Was he the third best? (Is Mitch Kupchak to blame?)

They're Horry moments. How many of his playoff failures have you not noticed?

Imagine this, being one of the best players of all time, earning millions and respect from everyone, getting to spit on a fan with no consequences, and then spending your entire retirement making millions to not watch games but give your opinion for another few decades. And maybe run for Governor.

Chuck wins.

There is no doubt Barkley is one of the greatest player to ever play the game. There are so many players inducted into the Hall of fame but they're not the best player on the team, second best, third best or even fourth best.

Horry HOFer? genius!!!

ur sofa king we-todd-it!

You'd rather choose seldom used role player over a superstar just because of rings? I know, me too. I always considered Adam Morrison's career a superior one than Lebron's.

Horry had some great clutch moments and is a notable player in his own right, at least in the era he played in if not a "player for the ages", but I wouldn't say he's a Hall of Famer. However, perhaps the Hall of Fame could have some sort of Honor Roll (a salute to significant role players, if you will) that grants players like Horry something of a "soft induction" with their achievements/contributions being recognised, but they're not inducted Hall of Famers the same way as Jordan, Magic, Bird, Russell, Wilt etc all were.

I always knew that me and Zanshadow would agree on something basketball related one day.

I'm a big fan of Rob, but he's not in the Hall of Fame class. All the teams he got his 7 rings with had atleast one outstanding player of the generation.

The argument about Horry over Barkley is pretty absurd as well. There are plenty of great players that didn't win rings because they happened to be in the same prime as MJ and Scottie or Shaq and Kobe or Tim Donaghy

Plus the nickname Big Shot Rob would suggest they were big moments instead of big games.

I Know it Does not look good when he's on the hall of fame but should we recognize him. (i don't know the correct term for this ,Hall Of Fame just came up my mind)

Well, that moniker is enough recognition.

Hence my suggestion of some sort of Honor Roll for notable players who weren't quite at a level to be inducted outright.

Failing that, there's the option of inducting championship teams as they've done with past Olympic teams, like the Dream Team. That way, key role players on those teams (like Horry) would be getting some recognition without having to induct them as individuals.

They should rather put Dennis Rodman in the HoF and leave guys like Horry out. He was clutch, but he did not produce during regular season and that alone should leave him outside.

Goddam! Put Rodman into the HoF. Read an articel bout him. He had crazy rebound rates of +30%. Wicked.

Rodman's amongst the finalists this year, so it could be happening soon.

I Think The Worm is the best rebounder behind wilt and russell
