Clark is a Jazz!!!
well why did Sacramento make this trade?? for cap space to resign Divac next off-season?
or for brad miller getting more playing time?
Wed Aug 06, 2003 7:42 am
that is the dumbest ever, ok keon clark and 2 2nd round draft picks, for 1 second round draft pick? what the hell? that is the dumbest trade this season
Wed Aug 06, 2003 7:52 am
that wasnt good @all
Wed Aug 06, 2003 7:55 am
Mr. Layden, we found someone with your intelligence level.
Dumb trade.
Wed Aug 06, 2003 7:57 am
Wow, that is a stupid trade, what were they thinking..
Wed Aug 06, 2003 8:03 am
yeap a very dumb trade..but good for Jazz though...they've been looking for a starting C forever...

The Kings are trying to save some money by avoiding the luxury tax. They don't really need Clark as much because they have Miller.
Wed Aug 06, 2003 11:56 am
I think we have our first luxury tax trade of the offseason. As with all trades made because of salary cap/luxury tax reasons, it's terribly one-sided, but Clark and two second round picks for one second round pick?
Wed Aug 06, 2003 12:19 pm
Maybe the Jazz can actually win 20 games now.
Wed Aug 06, 2003 12:36 pm
Since the Jazz are possibly lottery bound, this trade might have been better had the Kings asked for their first round pick (which the Jazz would no doubt want to protect if it turns out to be top 3). At least than Sacramento would have a better chance at getting something out of the deal.

acutally all Kings get is a second rd pick from the Jazz not a first rd pick

he was stating that is would of been better if it was for a 1st round hence: "this trade might have been better had the Kings asked for their first round pick". read abit more carefully.
still wit brad miller, keon clark was a good roleplayer
My 200th post! Yay
Wed Aug 06, 2003 3:15 pm
WTF at least it coulda been a 1st round pick!

As kobes_4real said, I was saying the Kings should have asked for Utah's first round pick, which may be a lottery pick and hence much more useful.

oh i see my bad

i didn't read carefully enough...

No worries. I actually had to go back and check to see if I'd made an error in my post. Sometimes I leave a word out here and there, which can cause confusion.

Asking for a first rounder would be a futile endeavor; there's no way Keon Clark's worthy of a lottery pick, not now anyway. (And yes, Jazz fans, I'm sorry, but Utah's heading for the lottery this year.)
Wow, that is a stupid trade, what were they thinking..
As Andrew noted, Sacramento was headed into Luxery Taxville, and needed to unload some salary. Still, it's not like Sacramento's having an atrocious offseason either; you could essentially say they lost Keon Clark for Brad Miller.

Maybe so, but surely Keon Clark and two second round picks is worth more than a single second round pick.
Wed Aug 06, 2003 5:25 pm
This trade still doesn't make sense if it was to avoid the luxury tax. Surely the Kings could have got more than a second round pick. Clark could start at centre on all but a few teams and they trade him and TWO second round picks for ONE second round pick. The Kings would've got ripped even if Clark wasn't in the deal. Stupidest trade this offseason easily. Jazz GM for GM of the year. Just in front of McHale.
Wed Aug 06, 2003 10:13 pm
wierd, wot are they thinkin, they coulda got a first rnder for clark
Wed Aug 06, 2003 11:02 pm
this is a shocking trade for Sacramento

yeah! Sixers wanted Keon Clark but they sacto didnt trade him in 4 team trade....
Thu Aug 07, 2003 2:35 am
good for jazz!
Fri Aug 08, 2003 7:24 am
I would have thought it was obvious that the kings are unloading Keon's contract and the only way they could get the Jazz to agree to take it was to include 2 second rounders, which will be getting close to the last pick in the draft, and as the Kings have a good team already and only seem to use 3 subs a game, 2nd rounders are nothing to them.
Fri Aug 08, 2003 10:20 am
but sac's 2 2nd rounders are almost worthless...... at least if they get utah they have a chance of maybe number 30-35, etc.. there are some alright players still around mid-draft.
i dont see utah giving up a #1 (maybe) - 10 pick for clark and 2 very late 2nds. i think anyone who had a fairer offer for clark was offering a player with basically the same salary, thus defeating the purpose of dumping salary. probably sac management just wanted to get their tax troubles over with in one instance instead of in many smaller instances. plus clark is dispensable on that team.
