Postby TamuraBR on Thu Jul 17, 2003 5:57 pm

The both are tied with the worst record last season(17-65)and now with the draft pics and some trades who is better?

I think King James makes diference, My preference are the Nuggets but Cavs is beter now.

Close contest. Very close. I'd be inclined to pick the Cavs straightaway, but I can't overlook the Andre Miller signing. Position by position, this is how it looks

Centre - Ilgauskas vs Nene
CAVS.
Just for this season, ask me again this time next year, and i'll tell you something different. Once Z gets his FG% up, which shouldnt be too difficult now Lebron's around, he'll be in the running for another all-star appearance (which he wont get cos Eddy Curry will whisk it away from him). Nene should be much improved though

Power Forward - Boozer vs Camby/Tskita or (more than likely Chris Andersen)
CAVS.
Boozer has to get it because Camby is the second biggest question mark in the league behind Antonio McDyess. Tskita still ain't ready and Chris Andersen is still Chris Andersen.

Small Forward - LeBron vs Carmelo
TIE.
I put LeBron here because this is where, IMO, i feel he will get most of his time. This is gonna be very close this year. Because both are still unproven on the NBA stage, and because I'm in Australia and have never seen either of them play. Therefore I'll call it a draw.

Shooting Guard - Ricky D vs Junior Harrington/Rodney White
CAVS by a long way.
Leaning in this direction because of the lack of stability that this position holds for Denver. Nobody will get consistent court time here for the Nuggets. Junior Harrington was only there by default, and Ricky Davis may be a stat-hog, but he's a stat-hog who averages 22 ppg.

Point Guard - Wagner vs Dre
NUGGETS.
A fantastic pickup by Denver. He'll be able to get Carmelo, Nene and Tskita the ball where they can hit their shots. If Wagner stays healthy, he'll be able to create some shots for his teammates but LeBron will probably do the bulk of the ball handling.

Bench
CAVS.
Miles, Mihm, Ollie. Some good names there. I do think Ollie is serviceable, but he's still not worth a 5 year deal. The Nuggets have a fairly deep bench as well with White and Tskita. But, the Cavs are more proven in this facility.

Add them up and you get 4-1 Cavaliers. However, all of the matchups were fairly close, except for Shooting Guard. Of course, the only analysis we can make is when we see these two teams play each other at full strength.

Thanks for the enthusiasm :D

In my opinion, Nene's got a fair bit of improvement to go before he troubles Brad Miller and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, let alone Shaq and Duncan. But, I agree, he is coming on fantastically well.

Fala brasileiro de merda... bem vindo a esse fórum animal que temos aqui no NLSC... :D

Well, I voted for the Nuggets, but I think the Cavs should be better in the long run... As Eddy said previously, the Nuggets' bench is horrible... And they lost Juwan Howard too... Andre Miller is kinda overrated IMO... Let's see if that marvelous season he had with the Cavs before being traded wasn't a fluke... He's not all that... Carmelo should be good for 18 points and 6 boards per game, more or less... Nenê should average at least 14 ppg, 7 rpg, 2 apg, 1,5 spg and 1,5 bpg, I hope...

Regarding Cleveland, LeBron should be ROY as expected... with like 18/6/6... yeah... I think this guy is the real deal... a new Magic Johnson... And he'll impact his teammates.. I see DaJuan putting at least 15/3/3... and Miles improving to 12/4/2... and Boozer getting his usual 10/8/1... While Ricky Davis is gonna be an all-star this comin' season... with at least 20/5/4... And Z getting 18/8/2... And I won't comment on their bench... Pretty good players there... DaJuan/Miles, Ollie (underrated), Mihm (who averaged 10 points two seasons ago), Jones, etc... Plus, who wouldn't like a team with Michael "Yogi" Stewart on it...?

Ae, não estou sozinho!!

I think Denver get 35-40 wins in next season, but not be in playoffs because the West is to hard. Whatever, i wish in 04-05 a Final West be

Shaq's not showing any signs of slowing down yet. The only thing that can shut down Shaq is Shaq.
He might decide in 2 years that he's done everything in his career that he can, and retire young.
Then Nene will kick his ass.

It's gonna be a close one between the two teams. If I gotta choose one of the two I think would have a better season. I'd go with Cleveland not because of James, but they have a better team with guys having a few years under their belt.

Well, Nenê could kick Shaq's ass only if Shaq is brought up to some court in a wheelchair... Only then... (N)

Well that's my point. Shaq being out of the league is the only way that Nene will be the best Centre in the Western Conference. Even then, he'll have to contend with Yao and Olowokandi (although I think Nene would win that particular contest.)

I think, maybe I'm completely wrong, that the Cavs will let Ollie start as PG and Wagner coming from the bench. By the way, Ollie is a solid PG, LeBron and Wagner could learn something.

The only one that can match up with shaq right now is EDDY CURRY!!! Btw i think the cavs can make it to the playoffs if james and davis play well with each other. Nene would have a breakout season this year coz howard(overrated) is nowhere in sight.

whats up with you guys and eddy curry man? jeez shaq could just kill him, but i put the cavs mostly because they have more talent than nuggets, nene won't devolop for 2 or 3 more years and big Z is allready an all-star and ricky davis is all-star material. I personally think camelo will have a better rookie season than leBron but lebron will be better in the long run. I hope darius miles can live up to his potenial this year. And wagner will have a good season.

shaq had his chance this past year to 'kill him' when they visited the bulls in march. curry was in the starting lineup for that night. as a matter of fact it was curry who outplayed shaq- 20pts on 8-13 fg's, 6 rbs to shaq's 13pts on 3-11 fg's, 10 rebs. and i don't buy this BS shaq was saying after the game about how he spoke with curry's parents and didn't have the heart to 'kill' curry while they watched the game

recap for the game: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2003031104

this is not to say curry will shut down or outplay shaq every time. but so far he is one for one when he is in the starting lineup

btw- the bulls were the only team to sweep the lakers in the regular season 2 years ago and have taken 3 of the last 4 meetings against them

Ae Tales, estou a pouco tempo aqui e tb estou achando ele meio mala!

Carmelo Anthony made his Nuggets debut scoring 12 points and adding 3 assists in 27 minutes, but the Nuggets fell to the Los Angeles Clippers 112-102 Thursday night in their final game at the L.A. Summer Pro League in Long Beach, Calif.

Can Melo be better than this?

I hope 20pts and 7ass.

Meio mala, Tamura? O cara é dos mais chatos que já vi por aqui desde que comecei a postar, há uns 2 anos atrás... Ah, tente postar em outras seções e discussões do fórum tb, há muita coisa boa rolando por aí...

Well... Strange how nobody told how many rebounds Carmelo got. I believe he has a Jamal Mashburn/Glen Robinson kinda game... And of course he won't average 7 assists per game... Perhaps neither Andre Miller will...

I see Melo averagin' something like 16/6/3 his rookie year...
