Gilbert Arenas also changing to #6

Goodbye, “Agent Zero.” Gilbert Arenas(notes) is switching his uniform number.

The suspended guard submitted paperwork to go from No. 0 to No. 6, and the NBA approved the change, league spokesman Tim Frank confirmed in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Thursday.

Arenas has worn zero since college, saying he picked that number because that’s how many minutes people expected him to play at Arizona.

Might as well wear a new number to go along with a fresh start. Seems #6 is in vogue right now.

Doesn't seem like it should matter, but I guess superstition exists...

Fresh start but same old Arenas. He expects to play 6 mins per game now? Or just Lebron follower.

I know what you're thinking. "Did he wear number six or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is Hibachi, the most powerful scorer in the world, and would blow your team clean off the floor, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Dear god is that horrible.

Even more awful is I watched that movie last night..

Personally I think #6 is an ugly number, I'm not too sure why but I always have.

I was tempted to make a brief reference to a six shooter, so yours is by no means the worst to come to mind. Indeed, it's far more creative.

Nice to see Gilbert join me with #6. Much better to see Gilbert wearing it than that chump Lebron James (Y)

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the real reason Arenas changed to that number, Arenas being Arenas.

Can't find the link now, but the ESPN poll yesterday was:

Arenas switching to No. 6. Big news?

Yes - 8%
No - 7%
Who cares? - 85%

Isn't Mike Miller wearing #6 already for the Wizards? Means they'll either have to get rid of Miller or make Miller change his number.

With Miller's almost $10 million expiring contract, I doubt Miller will still be around to change his number.

I suppose the bigger news here that's kind of flown under the radar is that Arenas looks like he might not be done in Washington after all. I recall a couple of recent articles that contained quotes from both sides suggesting that the relationship has healed somewhat. That he's bothered to file the paperwork to change his number suggests that he sees himself remaining with the Wizards or at least considers it a strong possibility, since he doesn't need league approval to change his number upon joining a new team.

Exactly, which suggests he's far from definitely leaving Cleveland as some would insist. It sets nothing in stone, but at least suggests a strong possibility.
