The Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a deal in principle that will send John Salmons to the Bucks for the expiring contracts of Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson, sources said on Wednesday.

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/n ... id=4922618As of now, I'm still too intrigued by Antawn Jamison coming to Cleveland to even be concerned about this deal.

There's people saying it's Warrick going instead of Thomas, and he hasn't played at all against Houston while Thomas has. Either way, decent deal for Milwaukee. They are looking to load up on contracts that expire after next season (when Redd and Gadzuric's contracts are up) and Salmons is probably an upgrade over Bell/Delfino.

Looks like a good deal for Milwaukee. Salmons had a good season last year but his numbers decreased a little bit this season due to decreased playing time but I think he can be a solid contributor for the Bucks while he's there.

Probably?
Also, you're pretending that Skiles will actually play him instead of going with a crunch-time unit of Mbah a Moute, Delfino and Bell.

his numbers decreased because he couldn't hit a shot!!! i wonder if Salmons is still on pace to have the highest % of inside shots blocked in nba history????

I've been listening to Chicago radio and most Bulls fans seemed to have lost all faith in moving Salmons, good for them I suppose.
I really don't see what Chicago is trying to do with these trades for THIS year though (if anything). I mean, I know they're clearing space for that max contract player this summer, but without Salmons they're pretty thin at shooting guard now.

John Paxson is going for the homerun (Dwyane Wade), but if he misses, we're fucked

If wades the homerun...whats lebron? the grandslam?

LeBron will never come to Chicago with Jordan's shadow over him. Wade, on the otherhand, is a possibility since he's from Chicago

John Salmons is a fucking badass.
Thu Feb 18, 2010 4:16 pm
If I wasn't Heat fan, I'd really welcome the idea Wade being the Bull. Along side the great point guard(Rose), good small forward(Deng), and Noah, Wade'd be piece or two from being the champion once again.
Oznogrd wrote:If wades the homerun...whats lebron? the grandslam?
That's a reasonable comparison. Lebron I gotta admit he's just the rarest monster. Him I think is the only sure deal for max contract worth. He isn't really injury prone either, so I think his prime longevity will last longer than most.
Thu Feb 18, 2010 4:32 pm
I don't think Dwyane Wade and Derrick Rose can get you a championship, they both need the ball and I'm not sure how Wade would be if he was more off the ball.
Thu Feb 18, 2010 4:36 pm
Wade plays pretty good without the ball in his hands on both ends of the court. But true Wade and Rose alone won't get you the ring. Might need another piece or two in the puzzle... or not. But I like the idea for now.

Like a Joakim Noah or Luol Deng?

yup, a Bulls fan dream for now is a lineup of Rose, Wade, Deng, Thomas (or whoever he gets traded for, hopefully Amare in a package with Hinrich or something

) and Noah
Thu Feb 18, 2010 8:14 pm
Amare would make them a solid team. Don't know about championship contender though. Especially after they max out or nearly do Rose they won't have cash for a bench.

From playing 2k10 and not taking a look at the stats (how bad proven can an argument be?), I'd say Salmons is the right addition for the Bucks. They just lack of any scoring element on the 2 and 3 (Charlie Bell is not scoring element) and thus are quite easy to defend by containing Bogut and Jennings. Add a decent draft pick for the PF spot and let Redd come back and actually stay on the court and this team is a playoff team.

Obviously there's the benefit of expiring contracts, but I was hoping the Bulls might still make a deal that makes sense from a basketball standpoint and getting thinner at a position that was already weak this year was not the kind of trade I would have envisioned. If they can work out a deal for Tyrus Thomas as heavily rumoured then maybe that'll be a better move for this season, but I have a feeling it'll be another cap clearing swap. So I guess the plan moving forward is still to be as competitive as possible with what they've got and look good enough with a playoff appearance to suggest to a high profile free agent that they're not all that bad and that their arrival could push them to greater heights...with enough cash to wave under their nose to bring them in.

Great trade for Salmons & the Bucks. Hope they push & edge Bulls for playoff spot
Thu Feb 18, 2010 10:41 pm
I don't.

A copy-paste from my reply at the Bulls thread about the trade
I didn't like the trade that much.Elson is the one that i don't like at all.Maybe Thomas and Warrick would be sth better,But now Bulls lose shooting %.Maybe it's a reason to play more Devin Brown. We'll see.Hopefully Wade will mke it to the Bulls the summer, and help Rose to make a championship contenter squad.Cause personallyi believe Rose is te main player to be concetrated and build a team around him and Wade if he comes.
P.S.Why T-mac can't make it just for this year to the team?He has expiring contract i think.

Real GM says they now have changed from Elson and Thomas to Warrick and Alexander, shifting the balance a tad more to the Bulls favour. (Because they get back some potential who could at least be worth resigning for low money whilst the Bucks have loose Warrick instead of two old inside players who do not bring anything to the table this season)
Fri Feb 19, 2010 12:37 am
Good deal for the Bucks. I guess the Bulls have all eyes on Wade. It would be fun if Salmons now helps the Bucks so much, that they make the Playoffs and the Bulls with Warrick and Alexander (The latest scenario) won't.

Haha. Yeah, it'd piss off so many Bulls' fans but sure would be funny.
