Joining Rose on the sophomore squad are: Clippers guard Eric Gordon, Minnesota's Kevin Love, New Jersey's Brook Lopez, New York's Danilo Gallinari, Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook, and Marc Gasol and O.J. Mayo of Memphis.

Sacramento's Omri Casspi joins Evans on the rookie team, along with Chicago's Taj Gibson, Detroit's Jonas Jerebko, Golden State's Stephen Curry, Milwaukee's Brandon Jennings, Minnesota's Jonny Flynn, Oklahoma City's James Harden and DeJuan Blair of San Antonio.

I like that JJ made the team from my fan perspective, but from a game perspective, this is going to be an absolute blow-out by the Sophs. Rookies beware, you're array of role players is going to have a tough go at it. Also, looks like the rookies are going to have four 2nd round picks playing. That's either the NBA saying the 2nd rounders have been really good this year or the 1st rounders have disappointed.

The Rookies getting blown out is nothing out of the norm, though I think those a pretty good selections for both teams top to bottom.

Actually there are 2 2nd rounders, Jerebko and Blair. Anyway, not bad rosters, only snubs that I could think of would be DeRozan.

That probably means DeRozan's winning the dunk-off for the fourth spot in the contest on Saturday, owing to fresher legs.

The rookies have no true C... I think they ll lose because of rebounds.

I'm a bit disappointed that Chase Budinger didn't made the roster.. might have been because he missed a few games with ankle injury otherwise he would have been selected.

I guess they couldn't bother to send Lawson and Hansborough. Hell, Thabeet and Thornton. I mean if we want to send the good rookies.

Calling it now, Rose is going to pull of a few dunks in the game that will put 2 of the Dunk-in dunks to shame

Tyler Hansborough sucks, I'm glad he didn't make it. That guy needs to be bitch-slapped in the worst way.

They're required to send a specific number of F/C's. That's why Gibson and Jerebko are there.

Lawson and DeRozan were robbed, but the team needs big guys too. It's not NBA Live where the bench is full of PG/SGs.

I actually read somewhere that Tyler Hansborough is on pace to break the NBA record for most shots blocked in a season

I think Lawson was snubbed, but Derozan? He goes out and scores 8 points a game and doesn't do anything else really. You could argue just as much for Terrence Williams or Wes Mathews.

As benji noted though, Lawson's snub is in part due to the requirement of sending a certain number of forwards and centres to the game. The nine man roster doesn't help matters when there's a few standout rookies at the same position.

lol i felt the same way when this guy was in college. it's pretty funny watching him play in the nba. his hustle act only takes him so far. i forget which game it was- maybe boston? he had a few orebs/putback scores in the 2nd qtr. the opposing coach takes a timeout to rip Sheldon Williams (?) for not boxing "psycho t" out. the rest of the game Hansborough gets shut down. maybe gets a few defensive rebounds but nothing on offense besides getting the ball swatted back in his face

I watched him against the Bucks, any guy with an arrogant smirk and a bowl cut is a giant douche by default but what did it for me was when he pushed Bogut from behind, got an offensive rebound and dunked it, then ran back up the court staring down Bogut the whole way. At this point Hansborough had 6 points and 4 rebounds, Bogut had like 28 and 17 and they were up by 5.

Bulls’ Rose excused from All-Star rookie game

I'm disappointed to hear it, but fair enough I guess.

I also am dissapointed. I will still watch rookie/sopho but there won't be Jennings/Evans vs Rose. Besides, I don't think he'll be playing that much in All Star game anyways. But in the end, it's not fair to expect him to be in the game 3 nights in a row.

According to Toronto basketball writer Holly Mackenzie's twitter (@stackmack), Chris Bosh and Kevin Durant will be the coaches for this game. Durant's twitter already has some trash talk heading towards the game.

I forgot where I got it from, but I think I remember reading about Dwight Howard and Dwyane Wade are gonna be commentating.
