Tremendous shot and what a great moment for him. If they end up signing him for the rest of the season, he'll have earned the opportunity in style.

Funny that a lot of the gamewinners over the past month or so have come after opponents have missed free throws that could've put the game out of reach or at least preserved overtime at the worst.

That's an awesome shot right there. I dont think anybody was expecting him to be the one taking the shot, let alone make the shot. I'm just really happy for him. Not happy that the Jazz won though.

The crowd and the commentator completely no-selling it doesn't really help its case, though.

Not to disrespect Gaines but I think that's totally a lucky shot, if I see him do that more often then I'm gonna change my mind about him. And besides I do that all the time :D

It might be a lucky shot but his foot was set and he had a look at the basket (ok, not that good of a look since Parker was contesting the shot). Also, his shot wasn't that heavily contested, he had space, he wasn't forcing the shot and he also wasn't throwing up wild shot. I dont know if it's lucky or not but it looks like a well-in-rhythm shot to me.

Besides, you dont get an opportunity to take the game winning shot that often, not to even mention making it. Give him some credit. ;)

I didn't even say it was lucky. Just because the guy hits one shot doesn't make him contract-worthy. Can he handle the ball? Play defense? Make good decisions on the court? He didn't demonstrate any of that by hitting that shot, and it's going to be far more important than ability to possibly hit a three to win the game, because how often are you in that sort of situation anyway?

Gotta give credit to Korver (that second last FG made, oh boy that's one hell of a shot..) and Z for missing the FT..both plays gave Gaines that chance for the one hit wonder..

Hell, if the Cavs manage to win it it'll almost be a one-man comeback by LeBron. Offensively of course.

I can only imagine what great feeling this has to be when you lie on the floor, you see the ball swishing through and the crowd goes wild.

Does it really matter if it's lucky? There's a bit of luck involved in any gamewinning shot or spectacular play. Consider this shot from way back in the 90s:

phpBB [video]

It's sheer luck, a one-in-a-million shot, but that doesn't make it any less incredible or fun to watch.

First 45 minutes of the game were dogshit, but I tuned in for the last three, which were among the best of the year. Honestly, I thought Korver's crazy shot before that to bring them within one was more impressive.

Korver's Shot was insane. It's not getting much credit cause its Kyle Korver. Anyways, Good shot for this kid, first career 3 point feild goal too, so it's one too remember.

Of course it was a lucky shot, all buzzer beaters come down to luck.

Oh yeah, Korver's shot was one of the best ever. You saw Kobe done that before, but a lot more was at stake on one. Just amazing game. One thing led to another, and now Gaines could actually be signed for the remaining season. What a nice turn around point in his life this would be. Even if he disappears, the spotlight he's got must go forever in his book. Good for him. (Y)

God I love cable. Just watched Hawks/Suns. Suns were up 4 with 10 seconds left when Josh Smith got fouled. After making the first and missing the second, Crawford got the offensive board and layed it in to make it 99-100. Stat splits a pair of FT's, then with 3 seconds left, Crawford hits a crazy long 3 to win the game at the buzzer. Far more impressive than Gaines imo (plus the Hawks actually matter)

Epic.

Yeah, I hated the idea, and thought it would push the Dirty Birds back into the lower playoff seeds, but he's a contender for sixth man of the year. He and Landry are tearing it up. I think Landry should get it, but I think Rawford (formerly known by me as Crawful) will take it due to team record and popularity.
