discuss all Kings stuff here
Awesome comeback vs the Bulls. as asdf mentioned in the other thread, we shouldn't question our faith in Tyreke Evans. What's even more amazing about that win was the Kings were playing their 3rd road game in 4 days. those are locks to be losses
Up next at home are the Cavs. i'm excited to see how Evans & co do at home against a Eastern Conf. powerhouse

Evans continues to pick up steam in his bid for ROY. Jennings hasn't dropped off completely but it's not going to be a one man race.
Wed Dec 23, 2009 8:21 am
The fact that people are considering him a potential all-star in the guard-loaded Western Conference says something. He won't make it to the ASG this year, but he has certainly leapfrogged Jennings for frontrunner status. I think being outplayed by his backup hurts Jennings' bid a lot.
Its good to see Jon Brockman doing well. Really enjoyed watching him at UW. Hawes is a total bust, but after being projected to go undrafted, Brockman has been a nice role player, and was instrumental in last night's comeback.

at this point i think it's Evans award. i'm real interested to see how Kevin Martin integrates himself back with the ballclub. the team is already close to matching last year's win total w/o him haha
Wed Dec 23, 2009 8:56 am
There will always be room for a shooter in a team like the Kings, Martin will do nicely I think.

i don't doubt Martin will shoot. the bigger question is how he and Evans will work out? Martin enjoys dominating the ball and Evans does as well but he passes more. it's almost similar to the Salmons/Martin situation last year

Yep, I'd agree with most that Evans is better all-around player than Jennings. He did seem more suited to pro game when I saw him at Memphis. Still didn't expect him to start this well though. It's great seeing how many big plays that he is making.

Evans is my pick for ROY. He has really impressed me. Both Jennings and Evans have been great.

Tyreke Evans is for real. With his scoring consistency, I'd like to see him play SG instead since he's 6'6.

I don't see that it really matters to tell you the truth.
1. Kings don't have a legit starting PG
2. Kings have another legit starting SG (Kevin Martin)
3. When Martin comes back, he slots straight into starting backcourt next to Evans
4. Evans played some PG at college last year also
5. Whether he is labelled a PG or not, he will have a lot of ball in his hands on offense (ala Brandon Roy)

I've been really happy with the improvement I've seen from Beno Udrih and Donte Greene as well. I became a fan of this team last season because I like what I see from Jason Thompson. He can become a pretty good two way player if he really works hard at it.
I also wouldn't be so quick to call Hawes a bust, I think he's just having trouble getting acclimated to Evans' slashing game. Hawes doesn't hang around the post as much because he needs to open up the lanes for Evans a lot more, forcing him to shoot jump shots. While he has a budding perimeter game I don't really think he's able to knock down jumpers at a steady clip yet like Thompson can. If Westphal can run a few more plays for Hawes in the post I think his production will start to pick up.

Omri Casspi seems to be decent, except for the horrible FT%.
Wed Dec 23, 2009 3:23 pm
Evans eats Jennings alive, he's awesome to watch. Spencer Hawes is a steaming pile of shit, that guy is a terrible basketball player but at least Jason Thompson makes up for it. I like Omri Casspi too.

Spencer Hawes is a shorter Shawn Bradley..... that's not good
Kings have a chance to go back to the playoffs next year
This year I dont think so because too many teams in the West are competing
Free agency might change the bad luck of the Kings

i hate to admit it but Udrih has been playing solid this year. but when Garcia comes back, i say put him with the starters
i'm not sure what nba position Evans is either but i'm convinced you hand the keys to the franchise to him. if Martin is standing in his way, trade him and his contract away heh

bump...
so Hawes decides to have one of the those teaser games against Lakers. i bet he disappears again when Tyreke comes back. speaking of disappearing- Jason Thompson is consistently inconsistent. not as bad as Hawes though
that La game.. maybe if that game's at home, they hold the lead. Aside from Udoka choking, they did enough to win the game. They've played better then expected w/Tyreke out of the lineup. he said he's playing tonite

I agree. It's obvious that Evans is more "valuable" to the team compared to Martin. Martin is a great scorer but his game is so one dimensional. Evans on the other hand can defense and create plays for others. He's also a good scorer and he still has rooms to improve in that area. Martin is saturated.

good game last nite. just couldn't get the stops against the suns. Suns were awesome too. Casspi has been solid since earning a starting spot. should be a scoring fest @GSW on friday
Mon Jan 18, 2010 12:43 am
bump..
Good news- Kevin Martin is back
Bad news- Sacto 0-2 since his return
doesn't seem like there's a chemistry problem with the 2 but those losses were to Washington & Philly. yeesh. i guess i'll give them a break since they were on the road. at least they didn't lose to nJ or detroit
Mon Jan 18, 2010 5:55 am
The Bulls are better than the Kings.
Tue Jan 19, 2010 10:06 am
thank you for that
now 0-3 since Kevin Martin has returned (K-mart: what a crappy nickname. plus it's already taken by that method man look a like in denver)
im watching the replay of Kings-bobs game. Martin looks like he's buying into playing team ball. he's passed up a few open shots/making the extra pass to get teammates wide open shots.
gotta give some credit to benji for believing in Felton and his jump shot
Tue Jan 19, 2010 12:46 pm
is jason thompson the poor man's kevin garnett?
Sun Jan 24, 2010 8:26 am
so Sacto continues to be winless since Martin's return. some rumors floating around that Dallas is interested and NBAtv's crew were pretty quick to say that Martin-Evans backcourt can't work out
it's too soon to give up on it. does dallas even have anything on that roster to make the Maloof brothers to do the deal?
Sun Jan 24, 2010 9:34 am
The expiring of Josh Howard and Barea for Martin and Nocioni is the current rumor. Great idea, at least on paper.
Sat Jan 30, 2010 2:46 am
Martin's value is now worth expiring contracts? say it ain't so
after being in contention for a playoff spot, the kings have been on a nets like losing streak. they've only won 3 games this month.
There's some talk about Stephen Curry as being the newest challenger for ROY since he's strung together some good games. up until this past week or so, Curry has been way to inconsistent. Evans has been solid since game 4.
