Blake Griffin could miss up to six weeks...

...with a broken kneecap. Ouch.

Blake Griffin’s NBA debut has been pushed back indefinitely after the Los Angeles Clippers revealed late Monday night that their No. 1 overall draft pick has a broken left kneecap.

The stress fracture could sideline the Oklahoma star for six weeks, the team announced, promising further information Tuesday.

Griffin, who averaged 13.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game during the preseason, won’t be in the Clippers’ lineup when they face the Lakers in their opener Tuesday night, and he could be out much longer. The Clippers play 20 games in their first six weeks of the regular season.

Well, to throw a historical comparison out there Danny Manning missed all but 26 games in his first season before appearing in 70+ games each of his next four full seasons with the Clippers. It needn't be all doom and gloom, just a temporary setback.

It's part of being a Clipper. His career will get screwed one way or the other just by being a Clipper. The injury is just the beginning.

Well, it's been a trend for Clipper big men. Camby, Kaman and even Elton Brand.

He lands from a dunk slightly sideways and the leg that becomes the second one to touch the ground is the one that gets injured. This guy is so strong, he breaks himself naturally. Just imagine if he had landed with his legs split like Shaun Livingston.

Two injuries before the season has even started. This guy should drink some milk.

Scary. I thought he got injured in some other ways and not by hurting himself. A bit disappointing for me though, I was really looking forward to seeing him play in the regular season. I wanted to see if he's the real deal or whether he will be another busted no.1 pick. From looking at several preseason games I feel he's the real deal, but we'll have to see. Hopefully he gets well soon and doesn't have an injury prone career like some other high draft picks.

He dunks way to hard, he needs to tone himself down. Someone needs to remind him 2 points is 2 points.
Allen Iverson passing on family values:

A.I.: son, what you doing there?
A.I.'s son: practicing my math for my test tommorow
A.I: practice? practice? we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test - practice. we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test, not the test - practice.

It's not just that, but he needs to hang on to the rim for a split second to slow his momentum. He likes to snap his dunks down instead of hammering them. The higher you go up, the harder you come down.

My prediction of James Harden for ROY is looking better now. Then again, Roy missed a third of his season, and he still won the award by nearly unanimous vote in a similarly weak draft.
