Its great when players know that retiring is their best option. I wish more players would quit when appropriate instead of dragging on their career.
Allen Iverson passing on family values:

A.I.: son, what you doing there?
A.I.'s son: practicing my math for my test tommorow
A.I: practice? practice? we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test - practice. we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test, not the test - practice.

No surprises here. He was terrible last year. Boston would have probably taken him for the minimum, but this is probably a better move. Has Sam Cassell retired yet? Last I heard he got traded to Sacramento or something.

He's an assistant coach for the Wizards.

Not exactly a spectacular career from an individual standpoint (aside from the All-Defensive First Team selections) and certainly one that wasn't without some controversy, but even with those questionable incidents he certainly established himself as a great defender and helped make the Spurs a formidable opponent during the decade. Given his age and his departure from the Spurs, his retirement isn't altogether surprising.

Good for him, it's about time I guess. His production numbers suffered and so did his D last year. Meanwhile, his opponent players should be thanking him for his decision to retire.

I think incidents like that made a lot of people forget that he really was a tough defender without being dirty, but some of those incidents really were dirty and beneath a defender of his calibre.

He was good player, not on offence though. Some corner 3 pointers and good 1-1 defense.
Thanks Bruce.
