Allen Iverson found a team, but the name remains uknown.
as he said on his twitter
My people just informed me that we are getting close to a deal. I asked them to call me the when its done. I am so ready to know!
I have not been this eager with anticipation since the night before the NBA Draft in 96. Then I knew where I was going, now I want to know!
http://twitter.com/allenIversonWhere will he go?Only his managers know

Supposedly,
New York is out. The Bobcats and Heat have also been mentioned, perhaps it's one of them. Presumably the Heat wouldn't be offering anything too big or long term, which might leave the Bobcats as his destination. He and Larry Brown have a history together (caustic as it may have been at times) and he's still a "name" in the NBA, a factor that I could see being appealing to Michael Jordan. I'll go with the Bobcats for now.
(Now watch as it turns out not to be the Bobcats, Heat or Knicks, but another team entirely).

What about Bulls?
They need a SG-(AI can play well SG too)
Fri Aug 21, 2009 8:37 pm
I don't think the Bulls need to rent him for a season. There haven't been any whispers about him going to Chicago (that I can recall reading, anyway) so it seems unlikely anyway.
But again, now that I've said it, it seems bound to happen.

I'd like to see him play for the Bobcats. He'd get enough minutes and shots there to keep him happy and if anyone knows how to handle AI it's Coach Brown.

Raja Bell, D.J. Augustin, and Raymond Felton are already there. Not that they're better than AI, but still... would they want to spend more money on backcourt?

Here's a breakdown analysis of the possible teams he might end up with:
Is Allen Iverson close to landing a deal?It seems Memphis maybe the most likely team...
Memphis is well under the cap, could make a better offer than Charlotte and, like the Bobcats, would love to have Iverson aboard simply for his box-office appeal.
But the Grizzlies are for sale, too, and are in no hurry to overpay Iverson (don't forget, they just took on Zach Randolph's contract). One team source said Memphis is content to let the summer play out to wait and see whether Iverson's options continue to dwindle.

Wade and AI would make an unstoppable duo.

yeah but pat riley already said he doesn't see a.i. just coming in and taking over mario chalmers starting spot.

It would never work, IMO. AI needs a team that won't mind him dominating the ball.

memphis signed
marcus williams to 1 year contract. i think they signed him as an expirement (so, if ever he does good this season, then they would most likely sign him next season.) i think that is what memphis is doing, so they wouldn't wanna ruin their "expirement" by brining a.i in, right?

Bell could play alongside Iverson with AI at point guard and Felton remains unsigned as of this post. It's not completely unfeasible that he'd go to Charlotte.

The article does refer to them as being a fallback option though, assuming none of the other likely teams are willing to pay AI as much as he'd like.

Bobcats are aiming for a low playoff seed, and that is AI's specialty. Raymond Felton was dogshit last season - worse than Iverson, so despite the age difference, they would be wise to replace him. Throw in Larry Brown and it makes a lot of sense.

AI has been horrible lately but he still wasn't on Benji's top 10 team killers list.

However, I think he has been more of a chemistry killer lately so it didn't really show up on stats. What do you guys think?

That's bullshit. The whole Detroit fiasco was more due to the absence of Billups, not the presence of Iverson. Apart from that, the little bit of chemistry that was left after Billups was gone, Wallace and Rip killed it just as much as AI.
You can't exchange a true point guard with a true scorer and expect your offense to run just as smoothly.
I still like AI in Charlotte simply because of Coach Brown. He knows how to use Iverson's strengths without causing too much colleteral damage.

You could be right, but the presence of Iverson initiated the cause whatsoever so whether it was intentional or not, as you can see Iverson is the one that's getting heat right now. Billups being gone and not being able to fill his shoes is another issue as the team was basically better at times without Iverson.

The Pistons were better without Sheed, even more than AI, at least in my opinion. Not like they had real chances last year anyway.
Sun Aug 23, 2009 1:34 am
he will go to the cats (90% sure)
Sun Aug 23, 2009 5:05 am
Allen Iverson had a career season in 2007-08. Don't be surprised to see one last return to form as he pushes for his final contract.
Sun Aug 23, 2009 9:42 am
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:29 am
Certainly sounds like a done deal. I'm not about to predict great things but my guess is that it will go a little better than his stint with the Pistons.
Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:39 am
Perfect situation. AI will keep his all-star streak going after all.
Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:19 pm
Hopefully. Can't wait to see him play ball again.
Mon Aug 24, 2009 12:14 am
Charlotte can be a good fit and the best out of those that were speculated. And the Eastern All-Stars will probably have Wade and AI in the backcourt again, cause if he plays constant minutes, which I think he can and should, he will rack up the votes.
