So, how good is LeBron James?

Really, really, really, really, really, really good according to this website which has been setup by the Cavs to promote him as this year's MVP. Aside from unintentionally channeling Dr Cox (sans the elongated "really"), the six Reallys each represent a different part of the case they're stating in favour of LeBron winning the award.

The hype of http://www.lebronisreallyreallyreallyre ... lygood.com aside, he's my pick for MVP this year. Putting aside personal choice for a moment, I'd suggest he's the safer bet in the award predictions too as his individual numbers plus the Cavs' improvement from 45 wins to 61 and counting not to mention the whole "his turn" aspect that permeates the MVP voting strongly suggest that he'll have the media's attention this year. In all fairness, he's certainly not the lone answer you could state in answer to the question "Who should win the MVP?" but I think he's going to prove to be the safest answer to the question "Who will win the MVP"?

Personally I would vote for Wade this season. Last season I would of voted for Lebron.

I don't really believe the way the MVP award is structured....being given said trophy doesn't make you really good. However in this case...I firmly believe the trophy will be given to the best player on the planet for the first time since shaq won it. How good is lebron? Good enough for people to be able to tell that he'd be great even before he got into the NBA. If he wins the title this year...there certainly won't be any question.

I don't know, I'd give that nod to Duncan and KG in the seasons they won it a few years back. I suppose you could dispute "best on the planet" but I reckon they both earned the award those times.

Wade's certainly got a good chance as well because he too is having a fine season individually and the Heat are up 24 games (and counting) on last year, which is a bigger jump than the Cavaliers' 16 games (and counting). However, if we're to put that into perspective, is improving from 15 to 39 wins as of this post necessarily as impressive as the Cavs' current improvement of 45 to 61 wins? When you factor in the reasons why the Heat did so poorly last year and what's happened to allow them to be more competitive this year, not necessarily. The Cavs did make a nice acquisition in the offseason in Mo Williams, but does he equal 16 more wins and counting? Again, not necessarily. Cleveland have also had key players out of the lineup for weeks at a time while LeBron has been one of only three constants in the lineup, the others being Williams and Anderson Varejao.

I wouldn't hang the entire "LeBron for MVP" argument on that but I find that an interesting question. Is it better to go from a lousy win/loss record to an average one or a slightly above average win/loss record to an impressive league leading one?

With their current win streak and having the best record in the league, I'd say Lebron has sealed the deal for MVP. Not only that, but he has been selling his candidacy well, with things like his pregame ritual and photography, along with announcing that he is going to be in next year's dunk contest.

Lebron seems like he's the best player with most promising future ahead in the league at the moment. It wouldn't be surprising to see him winning the MVP contrast to other candidates winning it, it'd be bit surprising to many. You could even make an argumant that he's one in a mil talents like Federer in tennis and Woods in golf. So I think rather more interesting question is how good can he get and how far can he take his team.

LeBron deserved the MVP last year, but he finished 3rd in the MVP voting so who knows, he deserved it again this year but Wade has better chances coz being on a shitty team

Right or wrong, the bottom line is that stars on teams with better records tend to be favoured though which worked against LeBron last year. And right or wrong, I have to believe it will prove to be a deciding factor amongst the media members voting on the award this year which would put him over Wade.
