Its a battle between Kobe, LeBron, DWade.. But I see a landslide victory for Dwight Howard..
Wed Mar 11, 2009 5:48 pm
I agree with the dude who is saying that dwade should be mvp.Its all about valuable... and as he says heat would be nothing without him,as for lebron and kobe , the teams are way stronger without them, than heat without wade.

not this season!
take Wade, LBJ, Kobe out of their teams, and face Heat - Cavs, Heat-LAL games, who win? right, Heat will lose both, Wade has better stats, also LAL has Gasol, Odom besides Kobe, Cavs has Mo-Will with 24 + ppt per game, and Heat has who? no1 consistent shooter besides D-Wade so Wade has bigger impact on his team, then LBJ, Kobe!

I seriously think Wade will win. It's not all about team stats but of course it will be taken into accounts. It's about how "valuable" the player is to his team because that's what the reward is really for and if we consider it from this side of view Wade is more valuable to his team than LeBron and Kobe. Not to mention the way Wade's been playing lately and his stats, he is basically hammering the nail in the coffin, finishing it off on a good note.
Wed Mar 11, 2009 9:15 pm
i'm totally agree with you, Modifly!

There were no complaints when nash/dirk/kobe won the mvp awards even though lebron had the best stats...but all of a sudden its a travesty that wade is not the lockdown mvp? M.V.P used to be an award basically given to the best player in the league but recently it's been given to the best player on one of the best teams. This my friends makes dwyane wade inelligable to win the award this year. It's not something i'm gonna argue though...we'll see what happens in a few months won't we?
Wed Mar 11, 2009 10:14 pm
yeah, we will! even LBJ told in recent interview that Wade deserves it the mos this time!
Wed Mar 11, 2009 10:50 pm
When LeBron James said Wade deserves the MVP, LeBron probably means it but that doesn't necessarily means Wade will win the MVP. We'll see what happens in a few months time.
Wed Mar 11, 2009 10:52 pm
yeah, hope it will be D-Wade!

Are you serious? You've got a short memory. There were nothing BUT complaints about Steve Nash winning MVP, especially the second time around. And Dirk was hardly a unanimous MVP prediction around these parts either. Nobody had issues about Kobe winning the MVP last year, because he himself should have beaten Nash and Dirk for MVP, and also should have finished better than LeBron those three times as well.
And not every one is saying that Wade not winning MVP would be a total travesty. It's just the people who have been involved in this particular thread, one of whom is Diddy, who would vote Dwyane Wade for the President of Russia if he could. Which isn't a criticism of you, Diddy.
And honestly, LeBron isn't the type of guy who is just going to come right out and say that he deserves the MVP more than anyone else. He doesn't need to say it. He proves it in every single game he plays.
Dwyane Wade is more valuable to his team, because his team would be revolting without him. But if you want an example of what the Lakers would like without Kobe on their team, and Pau Gasol as their number one option. Then look at the Grizzlies straight before they traded Gasol. They were garbage. The Lakers would be slightly better than that team.
As for the Cavs without LeBron, well he's been pretty durable, we havent seen them play without him that much. But they would also be pretty bad if Mo Williams and Zydrunas Ilgauskas were their number one/two options.
I think that these 3 guys are the MVP top 3. With LeBron first, Kobe second and Wade a not-that-close third. But all 3 should be All-NBA first team.
Wed Mar 11, 2009 11:14 pm
if wade isn't first, but he is defenitely second! but not 3-d that's for sure!
and no,

i would never vote for Wade for president of Russia, not Wade, not any of American, or other foreigner, but only Russian!

I totally agree on that.
Wade has a very good year and is by far the best and most important player on the heat, but you can say the same to lebron an kobe. Kobe and Lebrons numbers are as good as wades but the lakers and the cavs are way more sucessful.
And the argument Wade plays on the worst team and so deserves the MVP is not very convincing. Wade is the option 1 2 and 3 of the heat, so he gets much more oportunities to get that great stats than Kobe, because La runs more plays for Gasol, Odom...
So for the voting: 1.LeBron 2.Kobe 3.Wade

see that video and read my second post! only blind man can't see it!

If you want to be D-Wade then pray that he lessens his Turnovers!
Thu Mar 12, 2009 12:19 am
yeah, he better do it, right
Thu Mar 12, 2009 1:14 am
and here everybody is talking about wade and forgetting about the guy who deserved it more last year..CP3
i'm not saying Paul should get it this year cause he didnt last year, but you talk about most valuable to the team? think about where the Hornets would be if they dont have CP3....he made David West into an all star player, made Tyson Chandler look like an all star player, made the declining Peja look like he's in top form.....honestly, if CP3 wasnt on the team New Orleans would sink as low as the current Washington Wizards or maybe even last season's Heat...so in that aspect, for me at least..i believe it's a MVP race between Kobe, Lebron, Wade, and Chris Paul....simply cause all 4 of those guys are most valuable to their team...not saying which one is better then which or that D-Wade doesnt deserve it (so dont flame me for this post...), but just reminding y'all that it's not a 3 man's race to MVP if the criteria of "Most Valuable to his team" was used to determine the league MVP.
Thu Mar 12, 2009 4:30 am
I'm with Ahmad. Take away D-Wade and that team would have less wins then last year. Lebron has an All-Star on his team, so does Kobe. Also Dwight and CP3.
Thu Mar 12, 2009 6:44 am
I go with LeBron

This thread is absurd (although not as absurd as creating a new thread because this one made you butthurt) and full of lunacy.

What are you on about? There were
endless complaints. And LeBron still has the best stats this year.
BIG GREEN wrote: M.V.P used to be an award basically given to the best player in the league
What? It's never been this.
It's not something i'm gonna argue though...
Of course you won't...Joakim_Noah13 wrote:Nobody had issues about Kobe winning the MVP last year
I did and still do.

That's silly. The Lakers have two other superstars in Gasol and Bynum. They have a gaggle of good to great players like Ariza, Fisher, Odom, Vujacic and are sixth in the league defensively. The Grizzlies imploded because they didn't have any defense and didn't have Gasol half the year. (And nobody who could pick up the slack.) The Lakers without Kobe would look more like the Grizzlies of 2004-2006, 45-50 wins.
he made David West into an all star player ... Lebron has an All-Star on his team ... Also Dwight and CP3.
See kids, this is why I whine about All-Star selections, because people think they're some statement on the quality of players. Then they come back and use them as support to their arguments.
It's LeBron, Wade, and Paul. Nobody else should be in this discussion.
Thu Mar 12, 2009 11:02 am
There's a difference between an argument and a discussion mr. benji. My thread is a discussion...i'm arguing with no one.

i am totally agree with you about CP3 for MVP last year, it was unbelievable seaso for Hornets and it's all done by CP3
this year it's Wade, hands down, but, unfortunitely a lot of people give it to "best" player in their minds! yesterday D-Wade proved that he is bigger than the Truth + Ray-Ray! it was an AWESOME game!
Thu Mar 12, 2009 5:09 pm
Wade is definitely making quite a noise in the MVP discussions... He has been putting spectacular performances and have been playing great basketball...
Thu Mar 12, 2009 5:22 pm
Diddy, do you really think that Kobe or LeBron don´t deserve the award? Are Wades numbers really so much better?
Wade plays definetly a great season but he´s not the best player with no one in his reach.
take Wade, LBJ, Kobe out of their teams, and face Heat - Cavs, Heat-LAL games, who win? right, Heat will lose both, Wade has better stats, also LAL has Gasol, Odom besides Kobe, Cavs has Mo-Will with 24 + ppt per game
You can also say let Kobe, Wade and James play on their teams, who is better? LA and the Cavs have way more wins, so you can say that Kobe and James are more sucessful, does that automaticly mean that Wade is worse or better than the other two? No, but if you can´t seperate them by the stats then you have to factor in other things and I would go by wich team has the better standing. So no MVP for Wade this year.
