Shaq's 45 Pt Effort (33 Pts in win against LAL)

Postby tee-pane on Sat Feb 28, 2009 2:43 pm

Shaq's first 40 point game since 2004. He would have had 50 if he wasn't tripled teamed in the last 3 minutes of the game. Amazing game by Shaq 20 for 25 field goals and 5 of 8 from the line. This game vs. Raptors is the second game of a back to back (loss to Lakers yersterday), Shaq was sitting out on back to back games earlier. IMO, Shaq can still be the most dominating center in the league rite now even at age 36. Shaq continues to dominate this season, looking forward to him carrying the Suns to the playoffs.

Whenever you need a game to rejuvenate your team, or to get back your team's confidence, or for a player to have a career night, play the Raptors.

This season he's really shown he's still capable of playing at a high level but the way his body appeared to be failing him the last couple of years as he missed several games and appeared to have settled into a lesser role, it really did seem he was at a point in his career where his most dominant days were well behind him. Having said that though, I'm not sure that he's still capable of being that dominant night-in, night-out as he used to be. He was averaging 14.9 ppg for the month of February up until today which certainly doesn't measure up to his past performances. I think at times he's certainly still capable of turning back the clock and being dominant like this but they're still balancing out games where age has obviously caught up with him. Still impressive though.

If you watch his games, you know his movement is nowhere near his prime. Despite of his flaws that comes with his age, it's amazing that he still finds ways to dominate the game time to time.

Lulz. That's almost becoming a general conception these days.

Shaq-tastic.

I was  when I read on NBA.com that Shaq netted 45 points. Unbelieveable. I thought he was well on his way down the retirement route. Not so fast I guess.

I thought he said he that he will retire at the end of the 2010 season, not this season. I might be wrong though but I dont think Shaq said he'll retire after this season. I think it's the next.

But then again he's talked about playing beyond that so who knows. If he's still healthy enough, keen enough and there's a team interested in his services, why not?

With the way the Suns have been playing with their new coach and with Dallas getting blown out by OKC, I think the Suns have a good chance of taking Dallas out of the 8th seed.
Allen Iverson passing on family values:

A.I.: son, what you doing there?
A.I.'s son: practicing my math for my test tommorow
A.I: practice? practice? we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test - practice. we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test, not the test - practice.

Western conference playoffs are difficult to really predict in that sense, give it a few weeks and a team could climb out of that lower playoff seeding range or drop into the midst of that Mavericks/Suns race to avoid the lottery.
